Just Quit My Full Time Position Today
Permalink

Should I have quit?  I left two notes stating why.  Overworked and stressed out doing Frozen Lead.  The demand is way too high at this store and the little hours they've given me for another associate lead me to just give up the position altogether.  Saturday nights a person is suppose to work with me, but didn't show up.  I'm putting in 50+ hours a week at this store and it's messing me up mentally.  Have enough saved up ( 15k+ ) to look for something else.  I was looking to pull the trigger after the holidays, but decided to do it early this year.  Last year I had 70+ hours which kept a good employee there, but after the drop of hours, I've been pulling in 50+ a week due to noone not showing up.  I've been a good employee and always went above & beyond the call of duty, but the pay isn't even worth it.  Rather be a poor bum living on the street than work there again.

Good for you. You recognized you were dancing with the devil and chose to change yourself by leaving, instead of getting changed by him by staying. There's better jobs out there. Get ready to find similar experiences where ever you go, but at least you'll be starting with that strength rather than finding yourself ass deep in it. Good luck.

Same boat. They've cut my hours to only allowing me to have someone here on my off nights, no overlap to train or coach whatsoever. It's been a slow progression, sales up, tonnage up, hours down 25% since I took over a few years ago. They took away my ability to have 2 days off in a row. I've been through 12 people the last year and a half and everyone they hire is trash. Now they've implemented a strict no overtime rule and my income has been cut far too low and there is a constant state of pressure to be the one to soak up any and all of the laziness/inability of other employees. Completely unrealistic expectations from corporate create a hostile work environment from the top down dealing pressure on management to cut cut cut, no overtime, that gets transferred to department heads who can't get their minimum workers to do the minimum standard, which creates frustration that shows on the employees. I'm quitting at the first of the year.   I was going to hold out till I got done with my degree, but it's deteriorated into a state that simply isn't worth it.  Good luck to whoever comes after me.

Blows my mind at some of the potatoes at corporate. Cut cut cut, yet expect better results. They don't care, they push out the people barley holding the stores together just waiting to go through 15 new people before they find the next sucker who will work their ass off.

Just work the overtime until someone says something. Extra money.

Yeah, whatever **** you!  We use to have two full timers in Frozen ( Me and another guy ).  The department ran extremely smooth and I barely got overtime.  Than the guys in management started hounding us about hours!  Yet we always had a filled up department.  It got so good that somedays when I wasn't there, the department was ran good without me until the greedy devilish corporate fools took a good thing and trashed it.  I didn't quit entirely and took a full time position in grocery ( one dollar less, big deal! ).  Managers also screwed me by saying that i'll get paid two dollars+ more than my normal position in grocery.  Know what?  THERE's no difference for leads.  All they are just lead clerks with a dollar extra but with alot of responsibility with no future raises.  70 - 80 hours a week in Frozen is required to run the department effectively or you'll be stressing yourself out getting everything up.
