If you haven’t worked for two weeks can you be terminated??

I have an anxiety disorder so I had some I excused absens and been late a few times. Well this week I was only scheduled for one day and I told a coworker I could cover them the next. Well the coworker was closing so I was told that I couldnt cover for them. Today I got suspended for all the missed days. Now they cooled me back a few hours later and said I had to work tomorrow or the policy is that Ill be terminated since I havent worked for two weeks. The person who called wasnt even a manager, just someone in customer service and the day I was told I need to work was the same day I told the coworker I could cover for!! Ive looked through all my booklets I got from orientation and I cant find anything about the two weeks policy.

Is is the two week thing real or was she just lying to me so Id cover for a possi call in??

In my division the standard is no work for two weeks and the union backs this up.

If you had a doctors excuse, thats a different situation.

This is tracked by the division level and HR probably wanted to know why youve not worked in that time and produce paperwork if its a medical situation or personal leave

It's happened at my store. I'm guessing it's some relatively new policy... that was never communicated. Someone at my store requested time off and went out of town for a couple weeks. Upon returning, this person was informed of their termination due to not being on the schedule for two consecutive weeks. Not a new hire, either.

So yeah, watch out... ask for too much consecutive, unpaid time off and if Kroger wants to get rid of you, then management will quite happily approve your time off... 'cause you won't be coming back.

If you have a documented anxiety issue you should get treatment----and get your ass back to WORK.

Sounds like you're giving society the runaround.
