The reasons I retired early

I have just read some of the items on this site and I have to say my heart goes out to all the employees. My husband still works for Krogers and my heart really goes out to him when he comes home to tell me of his work day. Some of you will know who I am as not to many people put in 34 years with the company(What was I thinking all those years??).I don't understand why minor improvements can't be made to make the store a better place to work. How many of you are happy to work in a receiving dock where there is only a pitiful fan,no air,and the temperature in the summer reaches over 90% back there. The room has a tin roof with no insulation!!! Come on,how much would it cost to fix up the back rooms a little.Your killing your receivers not to mention the others who have to unload trucks and break down loads back there. How about the health hazard of having diet sodas reaching temperatures of over 90%.I understand that can make them toxic.Another thing I have to comment on is the dumpster. You haven't lived until you have had the slim splash back at you as you toss trash. With the cost of all the ice cream that has gone in them in the past few years (from the Treaschwig store alone)from freezers going out should have gotten someone attention. Why did it take so long to get some action from the office?I would like to have a penny for every time I've attended a meeting on how to improve store morale and efficiency.Come on upper managment, make the stores livable for your employees.Fix the bad working conditions and bad equipment a little faster.
