My son works at Krogers in Little Rock "Part Time". The Union attempted to recruit him to join. The Union and for sure its members are too scared to enforce the contract they had where they were to replace fulltimers who retire etc with another fulltime employee that they'd make out of a part timer. They only hire more part timers. And those who mistakenly become full time due to working "X" amount of 38-40 hr wk consecutively seem to have less senority single mom w/ kid(s). Seems he is discriminated being a male cashier living w/ mom & dad. He don't complain because he lives w/ mom & dad, LOL! I was member of same Union Local but w/ different company that was family owned a decade or so ago. Seemed that Union was more interested in livelyhoods of members of national companies than locally owned. I predicted what was happening to us then would be upon the nationals if we didn't ALL stick together. Guess what, now the nationals are feeling what we were dealt. Might say we were figuratively speaking "test market" on what they can do to others in future. Well, they got a new contract in June '06 but yet have not recieved any copy of contract or union book relating to new contract. "Union local 2008" website boasts what the raises they got yet do not specify that the part timers are to recieve none of it as it is being told to them verbally. Few days ago a Union Rep/Steward aproached my son again to join the union. I told my son no, to save his money for why join a union that will not offer nothing in current contract nor enforce along with its stewards the contract they had in the first place? One time he worked enough 38-40 hr wks to become Full time but the hours that he got extra the last week were accidently (yeah right) left off and would be on next check. Well guess what... it made him look "for the record" not working those weeks required in a row 38-40 hr wks to become full time. Asked (being well-known longtime customer and son a beloved employee) why it isn't rectified. Told Mgr. would fire "scheduler" then son would be on Poo-List and become ex-employee eventually. Now many may say why don't yoour son work somewhere else? I say why don't Companies and the Union abide by the contracts they agreed upon? I have a answer they are corrupt and union members are every man for themself, which to me is a self destructing union for a price and fear of being black balled.

It is not a "Closed Shop" Kroger. No such thing in our state. When I use to be in same Union Local everyone recieved Union benifits other than compensation for Sanctioned Strikes. Also non-union members weren't protected nor provided with any Grievence Procedure or Union Steward. But whatever raises and insurance benifits that we won non-union members also enjoyed. My problem is in my son's current Union Local's contract provides NOTHING extra for the partimers be they union or non-union, yet prior and after current contract Union Steward attempts to get my son to join when they didn't enforce past contract nor gave anything even to those who joined prior to Union Contract. Bet the partimers felt shafted now paying dues and new contract gave them nothing.

the so called union of kroger is kroger .Think also of who gets all the extra days off, extra holidays with pay and insurnace benfits plus vacation  ???? Stumped the union reps etc.


You do not have to join the union  they can not make you . The people are just used car salespeople . Been with company 8 half years have not seen one goos thing about them but tell you its great who ro vote for etc .


Now ther employees are sheep because they are not smart enough are brace enough to stand up and say nomore . Like last contract talks saw no rep come by store to talk about it here in atlanta but people voteed yes to giving away the bonus what little there was because union and kroger said great pay off one time Thats like voting for clinton and new rule its not sex just a little oral and people took it to heart and said ok.


Also I want you to stay later to finish we have company comapny but toward end of week you have overtime need to take off ( union looks other way )etc.


kroger puts frozen,dairy under grocery so not to pay for lead clerks union looks other way.


get a 10 cent raise union goes up on dues .


OH you pay a dime a week just to vote in the union look at your check stubb.Also you can quit the union anythime but they keep taking dues out till your hire date that s a crock


Now alot of people dont know it but the stores who have kosher depts know they get their


relgious days off and all their holidays off with pay then some of us dound out and started getting mad guess they heard about it now to make it ok the kosher are so called co managers so techinaly they get the higher py plus all reglion days off with pay.


You christians try that wanting sundays off etc you would get fires thank your union for that


They told me nothing could be done about that!!


well good luck on the job its just a job now no career no tahnksgiving are christmas dinners

IT IS NOTE A LAW JUST LAZY PEOPLE WANTING NUMBERS


dont join if you dont want to its crazy to join at your pay level get nothing from it you get fired heck go to work at target walmart anywhere part time
