CAO certification

I work up in the Northwest Ohio region-Toledo area. Been with the company less than a year , , ,Night shift-so we're the odd balls that most of the days folks don't know-or recognize , , ,

I keep on seeing all these postings for "Position openings"-but a ton of them require "Must be CAO certified"

? ? ?

-My supervisor gave me the old style CAO book from the guy who USED TO go around and teach "THE CLASS" on CAO Cert-My supervisor is a nice guy, willing to work with me-train on it, etc-but, even he himself-admits and says he can not give me the/a "Official" CAO certification" . He says the class they used to have-they don't have-or give "anymore , , ,"

-The supervisor before the current one said he's old enough to the company where he learned it OJT and never had to get the/a 'official' certification , , ,

O.K. So-

I've taken ALL the online Kroger CAO classes ,,,,

I understand the system entirely. Played with the gun, know the screens, used to be an assistant store manager at a different retail company-"CAO" really 'ain't no big deal , , ,'

I can and will learn the full, entire, actual CAO process, over "some period of time", just showing up for work [bugging and nagging and prodding the current supervisor to 'let me do it ,,,] and actually "CAO ing", till I'm 'blue in the face" , , ,.

BUT

How does a newer guy, who does not have the 'mysterious' CAO certification box " checked off on THEIR personal "HR" file-go about "bustin' out an actual 'stamp on my forehead' , I've now attended and taken the class, somebody from "higher up" now says "I'M CAO CERTIFIED" box checked off on my file ?

Idea's, comments, suggestions-anybody been down this route already ?

"BUSTIN' OUT IN OHIO"

Have you tried calling Human Resources and explaining to them exactly what you explained here?  I would ask for the CAO Certification Class so that you can advance to higher positions.  They should be willing to point you in the right direction, otherwise how will they ever fill open positions that require this certification??  It appears CAO definitely isn't going anywhere so surely there's still some classes you could attend.  Just an opinion...  Good Luck!

That's a bunch of bollogne bro and im not talking about your point of view but what kroger advertises about the cao certification. First off it's not required second off it only makes the store manager look good if they have all the head departments and sub department certified. Also it's only a 35 cent raise. Being certified doesn't give you a lead way to bigger things. Meaning your not going to get move on up by getting it. It just makes your store manager look good infront of the district manager and the president of your division. But if you decide to take it bro it's so easy just basic common sense.
