I don't know how you could get a look at the manual with out someone in management's approval, however, I can pass on some basic info on qualifications and procedures. To be a co-manager there are some general qualifications that the company looks for before they will even consider you. You should have one of the following: Be a Department Head/Lead Clerk at least 1 year, an employee with an associates degree, or anyone with a 4 year (bachelors) degree. If you don't meet at least one of these criteria, while still possible, its doubtful you'll get a shot. Assuming you have one of those under your belt you need to get a letter of interest to your manager and area manager. From there on, its up to them. Good Luck.
Heh, our store just hired some retired navy guy, he trained for like 6 months or something and is now following every rule and conduct written in the dumb handbook. He is also trying to impose new things to 'improve' our night crew, acting like he knows what it's like to work 3rd as a night clerk. He knows nothing about kroger and got the job pretty quick and easy.
it is not about what its like. It is about what the standard is If a dude 30 miles down the road can run a grocery crew a lot better than the one that runs the one you are on.. well expect some flack.
now that key retailing is not exception based extend that mile range to 2000 and hope you can keep up.
i work with the co-managers every day. i have to ask, why do you want to be a co-manager? that is a genuine question. do you have a clear concept of what the co-manager's job is?

to grow in company n learn...dont know what comanager does, thout it was good target i could study for as goal
always a good thing to set goals and to want to improve and move ahead. co-managers work very hard and have a ton of pressure on them from the main office. i often feel like they are nuts in a nutcracker, slowly being squeezed from both sides....the employees that they manage constantly complaining about all the crap the main offices are throwing at them and the main offices constantly on them about not meeting requirements and standards.
how new are you to the Kroger world? what are you currently doing?
