I've worked at Kroger, for officially a month now. I was hired in to be apart of the night time stocking crew(thats it!!!)...Recently day shift... bread and dairy crew got rid of an employee, and they needed help...So, I get a call. They tell me they need someone dependable and someone they know will do a good job. So last week, I started taking care of the bread...stocking, pushing those crates, getting rid of the empty ones. And Tommorrow, I have to do the bread plus jump over to the dairy, milk, yogurt stuff...and get trained doing that. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying...I wish they would have told me that...being hired in at night, just for that, I'll be ending up on days...stocking smelly bread and cold milk! It makes me so mad! I miss my buddies at night...and getting extra days off...hit me up, with comments...
You'll lose you Night Stocking Premium of $0.50 per hour. They are good about putting people in sections they didn't really apply for. Like grocery dry crew stocking at night. They consider it all Grocery, even frozen and dairy. We have guys bite their lip every time they get yanked to go work frozen. THey didn't come to Kroger to work in the cold and didn't dress for it. They come in expecting to put cans in a shelf and end up freezing their hands off. Its a little loophole Kroger uses to spread employees out like peanut butter. Too many un-employed people and laid off folks to use the excuse "we can't find anyone to put bread and yogurt on the shelf" Its just so difficult to find another heart beat. Its not rocket science. Anyone can do it. They just didn't want to hire anyone else, shave hours off here and put someone making less hours and wages there. ITs "Key Retail".
