SO MY HOURS GOT CUT AT KROGER WENT FROM 26 HOURS A WEEK TO 12. I JUST GOT MY KROGER HEALTH INSURANCE. GOT TAKEN OFF OF MY PARENTS BECAUSE OUR KROGER HEALTH INSURANCE IS BETTER THAN MY PARENTS. THEN I GET ONLY 12 HOURS A WEEK AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MINIMUM OF 18 HOURS A WEEK AVERAGE PER MONTH IN ORDER TO KEEP YOUR INSURANCE. THAT IS SO FREAKEN MESSED UP! WHY SHOULD I LOSE MY HEALTH INSURANCE BECAUSE MY HOURS GET CUT? I AM STILL PAYING FOR IT! KROGER IS GETTING SO MESSED UP AND SO IS THE UNION SCREW YOU BOTH KROGER AND LOCAL UNION 75!!!!!!!!!!!!SCREW YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I think you should call your union. Maybe the minimum to maintain insurance is 72 hours a month? You should be able to bank hours to maintain health insurance. If you catch the flu and are out for the whole week- you shouldn't loose hours.

The system of calculating hours is crap. We are in the UFCW 911. I don't know if it is different for you, but it is an average of 12 hours per week for the month. At our store it is usually possible to get 18 even if you are not scheduled any hours. Make it known that you are willing to come it early or stay over if people want to leave early. Let the service desk know that if they need any extra help you would be more than happy to come in. Be sure to hit up the high school kids, they tend to be more willing to give up there hours. I hope this helps.

See what your contract calls for. In our local, once you qualify for your plan , you have it. If you are full time and reduced to part time, you still have benifits coming to you. Have had a few times where some one had their hours cut and reclassified as part time . They had qualified for benifits at 3 months( full time) and went to part time at ten months. They had lost there coverage until they hit the 12 months time in and then had it regaurdless of 30 hours or 8 hours a week.
