Wow. This is not uncommon for there to be unsafe conditions in Kroger. Our backroom is a deathtrap. I don't think theres a fire extinguisher in the places it should be and the the one present I don't believe have been checked for dates.
I hope the family hires a good lawyer. Cause I've worked at Kroger for almost 5 years and I can definately tell you, they'll have they're lawyers checking it closely to make sure they aren't liable in any way. They'll try to weasal out of it somehow. They'll pull everything that woman signed while employed with them.
I saw a letter in the dept. mailbox in the upstairs office. It said that no water pallets are to be stacked like that again. I still see it though. The damn warehouse finally killed someone. Last fall I had a 24 pound box fall off the top of a pallet and jit me in the head.
Kroger apparently sent out Memos to the stores on the stacking of water. Also if you remember there was a safety test to certify anyone who used the equipment like straddle jacks. This was a while back. YOu had to watch a video and take a test.
They send so much of that d#mn water in on pallets theres nowhere to put it. We'll get 8 pallets in with another truck coming within 48 hours. Plus the ware house loads the pallets too d#mn high. Some pallets come in with the water crushed on the bottom or leaning because the drivers are running a Nascar truck race to get there.
Some states now have a cap on wrongful death suits also.
