IVE WORKED AT KROGER FOR 2 YEAR AND I STARTED OUT AT 7.25 AN HOUR AND IM STILL MAKEING I THINK IT SUCKS WHEN THE STORE IS UNION AND THEY CANT GIVE A BAGGER A RAISE THEY ALWAYS WONT YOU TO DO OTHER PEOPLES JOBS THAT RELLY SUCKS DOOES ANYONE ELSE AGREE KROGER SUCKS
But you can sleep well each night knowing the ceo's,management and share holders are living the good life. All due to the sacrifices you make. Just think of all those wonderful charities Kroger gives to(write offs).
Now why in the world would you be so selfish and expect to have luxuries like electricity,rent, food(which Kroger wants to sell you) for you and a family. Maybe cable tv. Thats just plain selfish of you.hahahaha
This is why Kroger loves PT after school workers.They have no overhead and they can bend them over and shoot for the brown bud each day.
First thing is simple.The pay rates are set by contract negotiations with both union and kroger. . If you do not like the contract then become interested in the union and push for changes. Now I am not in the grocery union and can not speak for them but it is the lowest starting entry position that is in the store and that is what it is. An entry level position. I also have to wonder how old you are? If you are still just a kid and under a certain age then there is not a lot you can do. If older then have to wonder about your ability to do anything or willingness to want to move from an entry level job to anything more that will get you a raise or more challenging position. If you are truly and have been stuck as a bagger for 2 years then I got to wonder why you have not been able to get out of an entry position unless you are just not competent to do anything else. If you are then contact talk to your store director, HR office and/or union and find out why they do not want you to move to any other department and want to ignore seniority and challenge you in another department.
Every job has its days when it seems to suck and not worth it but if you are not willing to put the effort into promoting yourself and getting out of a simple minded entry lever job, then you do deserve to be right where you are and the pay rate that goes with it.
I find the previous entry very ironic coming from someone who has posted the failures and faults of both the union and the company on many other threads. I find the volley of arguments on this forum exhausting. Like most of the 'lifers' "it sucks to be you in that position as long as I am going to benifit".....LOL. 'Lifers' only like the union when it benifits them, i.e. raises, sunday pay, extra holidays, etc.....and we will vote to lower the rates and benifits of the new hires. Why not though survival technique right. Yet these same people are going to throw everyone under the bus when they can not live up to expectations of the company...."they are picking on me", "they have stupid ideas and expectations". Seriously, man up...if you are so pro union step up and give the workers a union worth joining instead of one that has been an undeniable joke across the enterprise...do not screw the newbies, ban together and give them a reason to join a seemingly fruitless battle. If not then suck up the fact that you can't do your job anymore and everything will go corporate and you will have absolutely no say so in your department and will have to deal with petty new management. Either way, you have a job and your bills are paid stop bitching and actually DO something to make it better. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THEN WORDS!
I am in an older store ( was an old safeway store built in `85) in mckinney Texas. There are a lot of older customers that would love to have their groceries carried out but never do. Just have the opinion that most of them just gave up on that idea years ago. Most of the shoppers just get them and do not want to waite around until they can find someone to come up to the front end to carry out groceries. But then it is not just Kroger but all the other stores around. Brookshires seems to do the better job of helping customers out with groceries than any others. And God forbid if you ever ask for help out at a Walmart store.

I keep wondering why so many people complain about their wage. Didn't they tell you your payscale BEFORE you started the job? Did they have a gun against your head? You, and only you, should be to blame for the feeling that your wage isn't acceptable!
Anyway, how many hours do you work a week? You must be part-time not to receive a raise in a 2 year period. When were you hired? have you talked to anyone to find out what you need to do in order to receive a raise.

Have seen time and time again where kids ( 18 to 21) are hired into the meat department can get one or two things down right and once they cut a piece of meat, feel they should be paid top rates immeadiatly.Have seen a few that has stuck around a short period of time with good attitudes and been made market assistants so that they could get higher rates. once they get it , without earning it, they quit soon because they want paid more or it is more work than they expected.
