furiouswhy is kroger making all their employees miserable? there is little air conditioning in my store during the day and I understand no air conditioning at night. Is this more of the key retailing program that they invested too much money in? Why is it so important to grind their employee into the ground? also where is our union representation?

would guess that it is just a maintenance issue. Our store was without heat in part of the store for about a few weeks in January. They had to Waite for parts to fix it. Heating unit was about 28 years old. Also seen times where air conditioners went out on old stores and it had to take a while to get the money approved to replace ( not fix) the out dated ones that failed all the time

As far as your union representation just chech with your shop stwart , then your local and if that does not work all you got to do is go on line to the main UFCW web site and respond to them. They will get you a call from your rep.

Try this one. Our one air conditioning unit is out in Our store, 488 in Mckinney Texas. That brings the overall temp up in the store. I work in the market where the cutting room temp in about 40. Where Glasses and walk out to the sales floor and they fog up quickly. Try helping a customer when the first thing you got to do it take off your glassses just to see.

I Know!  My store is doing same thing!  we live in warm climate and during the summer they CUT the air off at night so night employees have to BAKE.  or FREEZE in the winter...  NO union either!  They are sooooo screwed up.  Been there 4 yrs and like it except for managers that are clearly inept, climate and treatment.  Rumors of a mass closing of store under one name and reopening with new name and all new employees at lower pay too, later.  Like a nut and shell game.  Work world is messed up!!!

Maybe someone should call OSHA and make a formal complaint. If this is a maintenance issue it needs to be addressed. When someone has a stroke or a asthma attack and someone dies Kroger should be held accountable. They appear to not give a damn about anything but MONEY.furious

Do not dismiss this rumuo completely. kroger has tossed around that idea in the SWKMA for a while. Last contact ( 3 years ago) They wanted to have the union set in on any ideas about restucturing pay rates and benifits should they they close under performing stores and reopen them under a value concept and design.

kroger is going to do what kroger wants. In the mean time I believe that the company has a obligation to keep employees and customers safe that encludes the climate in stores. the union representative did come in my store and I addressed the issue of the tempature in the store. I was told that it seemed comfortable to this rep. I told the rep they should move around and work to get the full  effect. I bet absolutely nothing will be done. I think we should start a email campain to the president of kroger. what about it?maybe some one will provide everyone the email address of the president of kroger.biggrin

Now do not know about you but down here ( SWKMA) we can always send an email to askbill@kroger .com and generaly get a quick responce back from someone in HR or sw office. Bin there and done that. But then again it will not carry any wait if you are not going to give a name and location. Anonymous just does not cut it if you are wanting to get setious about sending an email to corperate.
