i work at payless a store owned by kroger since 1999. are wages are **** 7.30 for new hires and i think 9.50 for longtime store floor and stocking employees. i am only 16 i have worked there for 6 months now. my store says payless on the outside but its 99% kroger on the inside. i am interested in making the store i work at become UNION. i am tired of the c*nts that manage the place. And the people upstairs that look through a 2way mirror and make big bucks just lying around. i am taking action and researching ways to make my store union. any advice
Now you are out of where I would;l d not have any true experience to advise you but if you have a computer access then I would start by going to the main UFCW web site and start their. They can get you in touch with the right person and help you get started. But beware of this one thing. You will be on their ( Kroger) radar site. Now just guessing on this one and that is the pay rates are not going to change much but the benefits , working conditions and rights will change greatly. Have had a few friends work at stores other that Kroger that are non union and they say their pay is higher but they have to pay for ever changing benefits and do not have the same working conditions that they feel safe and just in. A few of them was , as they say, on the company radar, and ridden hard because of calling a union.
