I'm looking for a song, don't know any lyrics, but it sounds kind of dark and 1980ish, and I can hear a synthetic piano playing throughout the song. The singer sounds kind of like George Michael, but I don't think its him.

I wonder if it wasn't Chicago's "Beginnings"? They do play that, plus "Wishing You Were Here"..."Along Comes A Woman" and "You're The Inspiration" get some airplay, too...

on the mend , by Trey Rollins, plays at my store sometimes, I couldn't find it anywhere, the only reason I finally found the title and artist was thanks to Shazam.. I've googled the hell out of this song and all I can find is it on a google play store album, it's not on YouTube or iTunes or anything else

if anyone is ever looking for this, they mistake the lyrics as "that's all, that's all" but he's saying "my soul, my soul" , adding this part incase anyone desperately looking through Google can find this song , more lyrics include "I've been on the mend, trying to find that peace within my soul, my soul"

The Christmas music playing at our store in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania is just awful. Few recognized hits. Mostly terrible remakes by unknown singers. Working 8 hours, heard maybe 3-4 actual hit songs and after a few hours the same playlist gets repeated, so we hear the same crappy songs AGAIN, James Brown Christmas song, REALLY?! Our District Manager DEMANDS that we play Christmas music until January 1st. I will be insane by then. If I could afford it, I'd call out sick till January 1st. Who chooses the songs on these playlists? Incredibly bad taste in music or is it a licensing fee problem?

PLEASE, PLEASE CHANGE UP THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC. IT IS MAKING OUR WORKDAY LIKE TORTURE.

There was once a song I really liked that I have not heard in a while. It played quite a bit during August and September. The melody starts off with a repetitive riff from a synthesizer and the group whose singers I assume were English sang the following:

Seven years! With blood like ice!

Your body burns me, turns me to your grave.

For seven years, nothing there, for seven years.

Images that break with time.

The sound quality of the recording seems like it was sourced from a well worn audio tape. It is a shame I can not hear it again. I wish I could find the name of the group, sounds almost like a 1981 Depeche Mode demo song.

Just an advisory to new viewers of this long-lasting, ongoing thread on Kroger Music: The music service that Kroger uses is called IN-STORE AUDIO NETWORK. And just recently (Jan 2017) they have been advertising their actual business name on short ad spots (unheard of, unthinkable in times past).

And in their ad spots an announcer says something like "Go ahead and sing along......we won't mind!!" in a sorta smug, self-satisfied way, implying that the music service is doing a wonderful job of bathing our ears in memorable, catchy, breath-takingly good melodies so that we just CAN"T keep from singing along with it. REALLLLYYY??

I just want to scream "WHO ARE the "WE"??????????????? We employees have to hear this stuff for hours and hours on end, not like the customers who may hear a few snippets of song each time they come in, and may not be aware of how tiresome and repetitive the music can be for long-suffering employees.

I sincerely wish Kroger could afford to hook up with a better service that would maybe be willing to play a wider variety, including more than just a handful of the thousands of 1970s-era hits out there.

One of my "beefs" with this music service that Kroger uses is that they seem to LOVE certain songs ,and play them WAAAYYY to often, yet others that I have heard on rare occasion (so we know they DO have them available if they want to include them), they play them very rarely.

Example: I have heard this song played only about 4 times in the 3 YEARS I have worked at Kroger. And yes, because of the location of the speakers I can't help but be aware of almost every song that comes on in an 8-hour shift.

The store manager does have some say but there isnt a button to change it, it goes through corporate office. The types of music will vary by store because it targets the demographic that is shopping; for instance, in a particular& store you may hear the mamas and the papas as well as bobby rydell early in the morning because older people are shopping early, but in the evening you will hear justing bieber and ariana grande because the younger crowd is there later.

The music in a particular store will vary based on time of day, day of the week and what season it is because they attempt to cater to whatever demographic is the dominant shopper at that time.

But like i said, the store manager can make a change but it takea several phone calls to higher ups. Almost everything is controlled by the corporate office now.

The thing that drives me nutty about In-Store's self-congratulating spots is the one where they invite you to "join" the hundreds of millions of listeners a week.

Do they truly not understand that we are a captive audience?

Sometimes I discover my taste is...not as discriminating as I'd like.

I've been caught by the repetitive refrain "the edge the edge the edge the edge" which I thought was actually kind of neat, although I couldn't make out any other lyrics.

It's by Lady Gaga, whom I generally think is all flash no substance. (Pity, really, because she knows how to make her voice work. She doesn't need the excess.)

I admit, I had not realized that Cinco de Mayo was the official start of summer here in the U.S. of A. Silly me, I always thought it had something to do with the Summer Equinox (June 21 this year).
