I am a sacker. People view sackers as the scum of the Earth. We aren't important to managers, customers, or other employees (only in rare cases for other employees). I have been almost run over in the parking lot of my Kroger because some people don't even give a second thought about who might be behind them when backing up. Managers and the higher ups don't care. You can't make a stand against them because they'll just replace you. We are just mindless drones that don't deserve any respect. We do all the grunt work that managers dont' want to do. It is complete crap. They just leave us the mess to clean up. For example, I repeatedly have to push half a million carts everytime I work to eleven at night. This is because they give all the hours during the day to two mentally challenged employees and an indian man who doesn't do anything. Now, I'm not against mentally challenged people by any means, but this is just getting ridiculous. They don't push any carts at all and barely work. Yet they still get all the hours that could be going to other honest and hard working people. Normally I wouldn't care at all about Kroger shooting themselves in the foot, but then I realize, I'm there solution. The few of us that actually work hard and earn our money have to pick up the slack. We have to work twice as hard just to do their shifts and ours. Those lazy employees I was talking about are not hinder by their mental statuses at all. They know full well how to take advantage of the system and they continue to do it on a daily basis. I am so sick of all this. I have to work a 7-11 shift tonight and I can guarantee that the status of the parking lot will be almost identical to the way it was last night. I DEMAND that something be done about this. People NEED to be fired. Not only that, but sackers need some more respect for once. We are not sheep. We are not slaves. We are people too and those of us who work hard should get the respect we deserve.

Edit: The poll should say, How many of you get the respect you deserve?

basically in the store that is the lowest job on the totem pole,  I suggest putting a written request that you'd like to be transferred to another department as soon as a position becomes avaliable.  Now depending on your seniority, you may or may not be first in line for an opening, but eventually it will come and you will earn a tiny bit more respect and you'll also gain benefits such as insurance and raises which I don't believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) but baggers don't get.

tl:dr
apply for a different position within the store

You will one day be able to do something with your life- you are not hindered by mental deficiencies. The others are and might sack groceries and push in carts for years to come. Perhaps they have been pushing carts for the last eleven years straight? You can't judge people because they don't do the amount of work you do- they could be giving 100% and will never ever reach your 50% output.

Start respecting your fellow employees and people will start respecting you. It's the golden rule dude.

Kroger probably gets salary of the mentally challenged workers subsidized. That way they get employees for less money. If you are showing this attitude at work I wonder if you would ever get promoted. Y ou say there is a million carts outside when you get out there, have you ever thought of pushing some in before it is your turn on carts? Try helping out instead of just complaining. It will make you look like a better employee, make the other workers life easier, and give you less work at the end of the day. As a bagger you at the bottom of the pole, that is because you have not earned your way to the middle or top. It is attitudes like yours that make baggers look bad. Look beyond yourself and help out. Stop being lazy yourself. Everyone is below someone and has someone yelling at them, even the CEO has the stockholders to answer to

You must be looking for the suck up forum, it's two doors down. some of the hardest workers i have ever known, where baggers, and never got promoted, so thats hardly a factor in who gets the positions.

No, I did not get that out of the Kroger ass kissing handbook. Did you get that comment out of the bagger ass kiss book. I know our baggers are not worth the pay they get. Most of the day I am yelling at them to do their job, stop cursing in front of customers, use a little bit of their brain. If they have to do their job it is like asking them to cut off a limb. Trying helping the rest of the baggers and  maybe things will get better

I run into some of the same problems with three of my people. They are the herd of turtles ( My assistant gave them that name ) and I am at the point where I am not going to cover for them anymore and they either learn to **** or get off the pot. Have one that is about to quit and said she is not going to take it anymore. I walked her to the meat counter and pointed to the front doors and told her to start walking. Have another guy( lazy 19 year old male) that can not comprehend anything that he is continuously reminded. the two of them are smokers and are always looking for longer and more excuses for breaks. Sometimes it takes being an ass hole to get anything out of a herd of turtles.

you need to get your union book there is no way your full-time and getting part-time pay.  if that is the case you need to file a grievance.

Now that does happen quite frequently ( Full time and getting part time pay) but what needs to happen is for the employee to notify the union and get it corrected and back pay issued. have seen many times where they will hire in new people ( local 540 meads in Dallas area) at a part time rate. They have to earn the hours to get to full time. Once they earn them , they become full timepay rates but for some reason, Kroger , HR payroll clerk or someone misses the time and that employee is stuck at the rate until it is corrected. Best thing is to have the Union handle it because if yoiu count on Kroger to get it done, it may not happen anytime soon and God only knows about the back pay.

Now there is a way to remain Full time but part time rates in the Meat department. Once you qualify for the full time benifits and everything else ( average 35 hours a week for 12 weeks) you can drop down to as little as 28 hours a week and keep your full time benifits but only a part time pay rate.
