Look at the schedule and see who is under your name claim the one with the most hours this means you are BUMPING someone and dont feel bad for doing it it is your right to do so.

What they said,

In our store, and I'm not sure if it's in all stores in all regions, but the union is ok with it. Part time people can't be scheduled for more than 35 hours a week.

Now, with "bumping" just remember that you have to work with these people, so please be fair about it. You however, do have the right to take over a shift of someone with less seniority than yourself. As long as you are able to do the job and have been trained for it.

You also have to let your store manager know of your intention to take over the shift before Friday at noon (2 in our store, but contract reads noon)

There is no set rules on how many hours you can take unless dictated by a seperate rule of not being scheduled like in our store or 40 hours in another store if they have no rule. But again do remember that you have to work with these people every day. So if you have 38 hours by taking hours from 8 people, those 8 people are going to look at you as if you just reached into their pockets and took the money.

Not saying it's right, but just letting you know. I would take over as many hours as needed to make yourself atleast at the same level as your peers. If the majority of the people doing your job at your seniority level are getting 26 hours, I'd take up to around that level.

On the same note, you can take what you want it's your world, and your right. Just trying to stop a perception issue before it starts.

That is wrong if you havnt been train they have to train you that night or day you come in they have no choice, and if its not in your contract I feel sorry for you, however training in the store for any position is a joke anyway. When I started I wasnt trained in anyway except for running a register. The only thing I havnt done in the store is decorate a cake and cut a slab of meet.

Local 540 ( meat departments in Dallas) They will hire you as part time but to get Full time you have to average ( not schedule) 35 hours a week for 12 weeks to get full time pay and benefits. After that you can drop to an average of 32 to keep full time pay and average 28 hours to keep all other Full Time benefits. Seniority comes first but you also have to be able to do the job.  If you have a 4 year clerk that can not  cut meat and a 1 year clerk that is your meat cutter, then they will get more hours to a point.

Also to bump another ones schedule, you have to claim their entire schedule and not just on day here and another day elsewhere.

Our contract states that you have to be able to walk in that department and accomplish the tasks given for that job, without additonal training.

They tried to pull that bump entire schedule here. But It wasn't in our contract. Perhaps it's only in some districts.

Ehh go figure
