guess it's over

what is the old saying, it will end, not with a bang, but with a whimper?
guess thats how my kroger story ends, 12 years, flushed down the toilet,
the union isn't even pretending anymore, i don't hear from them ,they won't return calls.
i just don't know what to do at this point. i havn't been able to find any other work, not even part time. i had chances, maybe early on, but i took the union's word, and waited on them. now, they have left me out to dry, over a simple case.
i ben told many times, it's along battle, don't give up, the odds are heavy in my favor.
but it's been over 6 months now. hope is something i just don't have anymore.
i'm begeining to wonder, did i ever have a chance at all ? or was the union just stringing me along, to keep me quiet ?
i don't know. I do know, i messed up, ever turned down other jobs, while i was working for kroger. i relyied on kroger, and ufcw, local1996, to be there for me.
guess i'm just stupid...

I wonder what the suicide rate of Kroger workers is. I can see why it is depressing for those whose career is working at Kroger.

It's not stupid to believe the best of people hun.  Maybe a little naive but not stupid, we all want to do it.  But I don't think the union where you are is much different from the one here, which leads me to believe is one more way for them to get money out of us.  I do wonder how much money the union is given by the actual Kroger company to let them screw us over so bad.

I don't understand why you would fight so hard to work at place that clearly doesn't want you. I have seen workplace violence and the assailant STILL works for kroger.

We have people that intentionally damage product so they don't have to deal with it as backstock, and not one manager we've had has ever done anything about it. They don't even say anything to them, much less write them up and inform the Union so they can eventually fire them. Then they fire some kid for stealing a 33 cent bag of Fritos.

it's all who they WANT gone, not what someone does. hell, we had a woman steala entire roll of lottery tickets, and the same manager that fired me, tried to give her, her job back.
might have worked, if she wasn't facing state criminal charges

yep. thats exactually what it is. i was getting to expensive for them
i know kroger's motivation, i just can't figure out why the union won't fight for me. after all, they are loosing union dues, every week i'm gone, and their weak performance on my behalf, has ruined their reputation with the workers at my store
