Kroger cancelled health insurance on part employees without notice. Leaving us with nothing unless you wanted to spend 450 for cobra. what kind of company just leaves their employees with nothing. We all re enrolled for insuance in november and with then cancelled in december 2010
I just got a notice in the mail telling me I had been dropped from the insurance plan as well, so I called them and was told that mine had been paid for Feb. I have not been getting full time hours since the end of Dec. Yah just another way Kroger takes care of it's employees, as for the Union they are worthless and as some one else pointed out, they work for Kroger not us, and I believe it!!!!!!!!!!!
But you can sleep better at night knowing Kroger is gonna take care of all those lazy lumps showing up 40-44 hours aweek for the last 25-30 years at your expense. Even though they won't hire anymore FT's and they have to pay all the retirees thats sitting at home with todays profits coming in. In 5 years they'll probably go out of business.You can't pay people not working with todays profits and keep working staff in the stores. ...Welll you can, but you have to do things like cut present workers insurance, hire nothing but PT's and pay them peanuts and squeez the PT's for more production than a FT does. Oh wait a tick, they're doing that now.
I have never seen anything like Kroger. When I worked for WinnDixie we used to get Kroger employees all the time coming in looking for a job to leave them. Now I know why. And that was 10 years ago and its even worse now. Shame WD had to scale down stores across the country. I'd still be working for them if they didn't have to close all those stores.
And they slam Walmart in todays media. They need to focus on Kroger some.
UFCW 876 cancelled part time insurance for hundreds of Kroger employees in the last 45 days. Union is blaming Kroger. Not so fast union. The union is the administrator. They then try and tell said affected employee it is the health and insurance line that is doing this. They are all blaming each other. Over 20 hour weekly average needed for 13 weeks qualifying period. No where it is written that the period was in 2010. Union flyer sent out to the stores in 2010, not by mail to employees, just said Jan. 1st, 2011 was the starting date for new hourly average. To top it off, union handbooks are way late. No one has it yet. Contract was ratified in June, 2010. Union blaming the printers. It takes less than 5 days to get a printer to print 100,000 brochures. A good printer does it all the time. Watch for a lot of negative feedback towards the union and Kroger on this crap. And it is crap. NLRB I am sure is aware of this now. Good fodder for Walmart to keep their employees in line and discourage the union. This is in Michigan.

We have lots of former WinnDixie employees at our store, and ALL of them swear that Kroger is way better than WD. I am certainly not defending KR, but it show that it all depends on your perspective. They also say that Kroger is turning into WD, and look at all the troubles WD has.
The latest thing we have to look forward to here is that all full time employees will be required to cross train on a register. Great. Another excuse to cut hours on the front end. And all of us "lazy lumps" will now have to put down what we are doing and turn away from our customers to go up front and screw up a transaction because we are old and we can't retain info unless we do that task every day.
