age discrimination and key retailing

I have health problems. I am over 50 years old. I have been employed with kroger for 33 years. I can not run a register because of a repetitive motion disorder with my neck. I also have fibromialgia. I have worked in the non food dept for at least 10 years because of my repetitve motion disorder. now that I can not work fast enough for the key retailing program they are going to put me back to running a register. this really sounds like discrimination to me. they are going to try to screw me out of my jobl.disbelief

I am sure you have proper documentation from your doctor and both gave and told your kroger management about your health issues - right?

besides - how can they just move you from one department to another? didn't you say "no thanks".

Depends on her contract. She could complain about work outside her classification, but I doubt it will go anywhere.

Just go get a doctors note describing your health issues and hand it in. Simple as that.

Using the Union (I know a lot of you like to run that way as fast as you can) should be a last resort

LOL. yea right.  how much do you pay to the union in a year?  $6 x 52.  You'd be better off using the Union to have your Will written.

She may also run the risk of being 'out'---permanantly. An increasing number of work places are insisting that an employee unable to perform required job functions is eligible for termination.

I have seen this thing happen several times.

I'm paying $8.48 a week or ~$440 a year! I feel ripped off! :(

Key retailing purpose is to give all mgmt. power for firing.  It's a documentation system for showing poor performance, whether or not it exists.  Kroger never does anything without ROI (return on investment) and Kroger's largest expense in the company is the pension fund.  Notice how many older employees and chased out/fired.  People with medical issues need to google ADA and read, really read.  Kroger is doing this all over the company.

I am sorry, if you are unable to perform the essential functions of you job you should not be in that job. Excuses, I am sorry. Health is a problem, fight for disability, otherwise don't b*tch about them moving you elsewhere when in reality there is someone else who could easily do your job and do a better job at it.
