I received a note to file for not completing a qmsr (shelf review) for my department. Granted, one was done earlier in the day. It was not a good one, according to my manager. She explained to me that I needed to complete another one before I left and change the balances and fix the minimums. I hadn't worked the backstock that day due to the truck not being finished and various other tasks not being done, so how was I to do a proper QMSR when I didn't know what we had in the back?? The other employee left a great big mess for me to clean up that day. I am only given 4 hours to close my department every night. How can I be expected to clean up everyone's mess in that amount of time? Why am I expected to hold the department together when I am PART TIME? the other two employees are full time. I'm a CLERK not a MANAGER. It's NOT my responsiblity to be their b**** and fix everything. I stay late every night and go above and beyond for the company. I have never been written up or received a note to file before... in my 3 years with the company.
I don't know what department you're in but I've been in the deli bakery for 20 years. I know how to do many things but one thing I don't do is try to run things. That's up to the department head and the backup. Now, I will do things like shelf reviews or make out orders if I'm asked but it is not my responsibilty to see that they get done. I make sure my work gets done but I am not responsible for anybody elses. Your problem is you've learned how to do these things and now they're taking advantage of you. Unless you're thinking about becoming a department head or backup in the future I would say something to your department head about dividing the share of the responsibilities more evenly among the other employees. You definitely shouldn't be staying late each night to get things done. That responsibilty should fall on the department head or backup.

Okay, now how did all that get to be your responsibility? You need to nip that in the bud right now.
I'm in dairy. No, I shouldn't have to stay late every night, but I've been "promised" a promotion of some sort and sort of feel like I have to take everyone's crap and suck it up to get what I rightfully deserve. Just stinks sometimes to always get the shaft.

If it's lead dairy clerk be careful what you wish for. My store has gone through more dairy leads in last 10 years than I can count on my fingers and toes. In the last two years alone they've gone through three. The last one only stuck around for about three months.

My store used to go through them like that, then we got the one that we have now and he's been there for 2 years. But he lost his fire, and isn't staying with the company. Honestly, I don't care where they put me...I just want a chance. I need more money, I have bills to pay. And will take it however I can get it. Management just doesn't seem to be on top of the 'situation.' They know I hold the department together anyways, they just won't make a decision.
Hope they're not just stringing you along; I've seen that happen.
As have I, many times. But for as much as I do for them it would be downright wrong for them not to reward me for my hardwork. But then again we are talking about Kroger here... I know I should look for a way out and try to find something more suitable, but I love my job. I just don't like having to pick up others' slack and not be given an opportunity to further prove myself.

If this continues much longer, I would ask for a sit down with your store manager. Remind them of your value, impress them with your loyalty and drive for the store and company.....then press them for a comitment to take you to the next level. Good luck!

Thank you for the luck! However, I've done so more than once already. One time being about 2 weeks ago. And my store manager told me he'd talk to me about it again in 2 weeks. But with the note to file today, I was told that I wasn't as sharp as they thought?? When it shouldn't have even had to be done a 2nd time in the first place?
I wouldn't worry about the note to file unless it escalates to a SIR.
Someone that I work with was threatened with a write-up by a co-manager for not filling out the team stocking guide in frozen a week after the dairy manager FILED A GRIEVANCE for the same thing. The co told him he could have stayed ten minutes to finish the team stocking guide while the store manager had said previously in the week "No Overtime".
As for the grievance, he lost it and ultimately gave up the head dairy job. The district manager said it was "not an option and had to be done", although there were other problems and our union rep at the time said "So what? I have to do paperwork too!"
Of course, if you're trying to get a head dairy job based on promotion (our dept heads are biddable jobs here), then you should probably ignore what I just said.

I'm not worried about it following me, because it won't. I wouldn't let something that small hurt my reputation of hardwork. What bothers me about it is that it wasn't deserved. and I am not necessarily going for the Lead Dairy Clerk position. I'm going for whatever I'm offered. I can and do work in every department in the store other than Bakery/Deli. Dairy being my "home." I've been classified: Produce clerk, Grocery clerk, Dairy clerk, FE supervisor, and courtesy clerk. Never was a cashier. Just skipped that step... I've been in 2 stores already in 3 years. Went to one and transferred back to the one I'm at now. They seem relatively the same; neither manager seemed too keen on adding another full timer to their staff to make me a lead clerk or manager.
yea i hope to god (and not the kroger god) that you did not admit to or sign anything. who was their witness when they called you in? did you ask for your weingarden rights and get your union stewart involved? you might wish to just let it go and move on w/o really any more mention to it OR you might want to file a grievance. you might want to practice the 'open door' with the store manager and ask him for insight on how he wishes everything to be done. that would be your window of opportunity to explain very plain-factly the impossibilities of it all. if then you do not feel you mad any headwaves, talk to your union steward. he might be able to smack some sense into both the co and the SM. you have i believe 7 days from the day of your NTF to rebuttal.

Yes, I did make the mistake of signing the NTF. In all honesty though, she asked me to do something. Whether I had time to do it or forgot about it is beside the fact in my eyes. I've started to think more positively on it. I will continue to stay late and finish everything from now on and do as I'm told, but I will not be walked all over. I will stand up for myself and do what I believe to be right. I am going to just move past this without another mention of it and do my job to the best of my ability. That's all I can do...and if it's not good enough, then I will transfer again or find a new job. It'll be Kroger's loss.
yup! thats the attitude. time heals all. wait several weeks and when you havnt been knocked around by mngt over silly stuff go to that person and say one day "hey, i just want you to know that that was messed up several weeks back huh. if you put any thought into yourself and agree, feel free to go to my file and rip to shreds that NTF you coorced me to sign"
people seem to forget trivial stuff. make it your habit to give people some 'real hard life's lessons' by saying **** like that. when people do me wrong and they think they are currently right on their stance i love saying "you just dead wrong. you might not understand that you are right this very moment but sooner or later you will. it might be late tonight when you are asleep and you will wake up and say DAMN i screwed that one up or it might be next week or even a year from now but trust me - one day you will realize that you f'd up!"

Yeah! That's exactly what I will do. Thanks for all the advice. As lame as it sounds, this is what got me through my day today. I kept a positive attitude and didn't let the petty **** get me down.
