I am not an employee of Kroger. Just wanted this to get out there. The Kroger store Marysville, Ohio quit accepting vouchers from the Union County Veterans Service Office. This started in 2010. The Mgr's at Marysville Kroger said it was a corporate decision and they were losing money because of this. These vouchers are for $145.00. When I was shopping at Kroger with it, my wife and I could get enough food to last almost an entire month. Now we are limited to IGA stores and do good to get enough to last 2 weeks. During a phone conversation with Allison from the Kroger corporate office she said that all she could say was they were no longer accepting the vouchers and she would relay my concerns to the people in charge. Is Kroger making so much money that they can afford to lose money. I can only hope that the VSO can soon get with Wal-Mart or work something else out. I don't use these vouchers very often but it would be nice to know that if I have to I will be able to get enough to last for awhile. As for Kroger, I think they should take another look at their policy. In the meantime I think I will be shopping Walmart or going to Dublin for Giant Eagle or Meijer.
kroger likes to make it look like they care about the customers, when really that care is only so they make the customers come back and spend more and more money. not for the welfare of the customer. anything above and beyond making money off people is extra and is just another way for them to boast about it to get even more people. this is general business but it's sad they can't honor those who have served with the vouchers.
Mr Anon.. Please call your local news station. Do whatever it takes to make sure that someone knows that they aren't letting you use a benefit that you literally fought for. If they bend over backwards and stay open 2 hours later on the first to get the food stamp money, why can't they make accomodations for our Veterans?
We don't have vouchers like that in Va. Or if we do, I don't know about them.
And I, as a kroger employee, apologize for the way they are treating you. They need to do better
With all due respect I don't mean to sound rude but if you're starting out wouldn't anyone get minimum wage? I do agree that military personnel are underpaid but once you're in the workforce whats' the difference between you "putting bologna on the shelf" and anyone else doing that same task? EVERYONE deserves more than minimum wage for all the crap they put up with here. :)

I ****ing hate the way kroger is treating me as well. I've worked in the meat dept. for this company for almost a year now. Done a tour in afghanistan as an infantry soldier in the Army. Worked on 30 million dollar aircraft in the Air Force, but would they start me out at anything better than minimum wage? Hell ****ing no! Because I don't have retail experience. I guess leading a machine gun squad in the worst conditions a person can live in, or troubleshooting and fixing the weapons systems on an F-15 and handling live aircraft ordnance ain't got **** on putting packages of bologna on the ****ing shelf! **** this greedy ass company! I bet that if the founder of this company knew how it was operating today he would be rolling in his grave! Kroger back in the day used to be a good place to work! Now they just don't give a rat's ass about their employees!
