noMy wife lost her coverage on my plan. She was a rider. the UFCW SAYS I DID NOT CHECK THE RIGHT BOX ON MY ONLINE FORM. This is so petty. She has been on my Ins for 20 yrs. I am appealing the decision. Just pisses me off.

All insurance companies try to screw consumers. I'm sorry.

I know the only way to change your insurance status for the year is a "life changing" event. Perhaps you could divorce and then remarry her and get coverage for the remanding year.

Three words: appeal, appeal, APPEAL! Pull any and all former statements that bear her signature/name, whatever, anything that proves she was on your policy. The hugely two decades spent paying your premiums, a legal paper trail of itself, should be enough to set things back on track. As long as you have documented proof of your good faith years-long behavior, excellent health and, above all, ZERO CLAIMS, there really shouldn't be a problem.

At this point, if you get any further ****, my advice would be to threaten a lawyer. Sure, it's a gamble on your job...But so's everything else these days. These are odds you can WIN.

man i feel for you dude. but i got the bad feeling that it will be a lost cause for this year.  their logic will be that you did not check the stupid box so they did what you pretty much told them to do.  maybe with some sympathy/empathy you will get somebody to listen and change it to the way you would like it. Good luck...

there was a lady i worked with who somehow was paying for family health coverage every week a ridiculous amount of $125+.  We were all dumbfounded on why this was whenever we heard her plight so since good ol' kroger management seemed conent to not help her find out why, I took the bull by the horn & made some calls on her behalf.  It turns out that several years back she signed/checked off the form that said she was not willing to work any shift between the hours of 6am to 11pm.  i guess it put her in as a "status 4 associate".  she however was now working full time and to whatever schedule we threw at her but still she never redid/recinded that darn form.  The poor lady paid week after week that large amount while her husband was unemployed plus she has 3 or 4 rugrats.  her weekly final paychecks were less than the insurance she was paying & she was making like $3/hrs!  i felt real bad for her but ultimately she made a mistake. oh well
