The store I work at just had both the first of the month and senior Wedensday all in one day. We were super busy and had a hard time keeping the carts up to speed. To top it off our lazy baggers were there. So as fate would have it, it was the last hour of my shift and I had lot duty after one of the lazy baggers. I had to come in a couple of times which didn't help matters much but I still kept going. By the end of my shift the floor supervisor asks who went out next. It was another lazy one and I said there was a lot of carts. The FS told me to go back out. I tried to explain things but the FS snapped on me, gave me a speech that she didn't care, and threatened to call management on me. So I went back out, got twenty minutes of overtime, and came to a decision. The next time this day comes up I'm going to request it off. I have never hated a day at work as much as this day and I don't need this BS again.
sounds like just a typical day at kroger to me. also you should have just told them to suck it up. it's not your fault that your other employees are lazy. you should not be punished for their BS. also where did the supervisor snap on you? was it in front of customers?

They can't make you stay when your shift is over. They can ask but they can't make you. That's the whole point of having a schedule. If you show up on time then you should expect to go home on time.
yea - i don't pick up a faster pace b/c of crap like that. i get paid a certain amt per hour and i work. don't get your panties all in a knot over the 1st of the month....

Unless you are specifically ASKED to work over, you don't have to. You actually have a choice in the matter and if you put in overtime without consent, you can actually get into trouble for it.
Do what the supervisors tell you to do, but within reason. If they tell you to go back out and get carts and you have two minutes left before its time to leave, tell them you leave in two minutes. If they get pissy, just make your way to the time clock and leave them alone.
