bad managment causes quick turnover
Permalink

i have been at kroger for 16 months now. and i am in the top ten in the whole store as for seniority. out of some 40-50 people. i seen people leave in masses. it happens every 5-6 weeks. 1 gets fired and 2 leave within the same week. 3 gone. is this bad for me. no. but it has made me cringe on most days at kroger. management is grossley overpaid the have been shaving off other departments hours by a couple of hours and giving the money to themselves. doing special favors as all the manager are like a click. they antagonize me with there presence. there old and dumb. they talk to me like i am dumb which i have proven oh so many times to be smarter and altogether more hardworking. i have been denied any chance for promotion by some old buzzard. who can and should retire. but alas the days are long and the bull**** runs through as a mighty river. they wonder why they always are shorthanded, stealing hours and being a complete bitch. for no apparent reason. I hate authority but i will abide by the rules (the dude abides). but when a person such as a manager with no real smarts is given power. its like there king now and this is there kingdom to which they have complete control. just because no one listened before now you can fire them.or annoy them make life hell. i wish my job was simple and it is but my life is utterly in control of a bunch of ****s. kroger is the worst. i wish i could fire them all.

I got this feeling that it probably happens a lot more than you think...I've seen store morale deteriorate because of constant negativity and bad management. And I'm thinking it's probably not just a Kroger problem...But then, managers can change at the drop of a hat...One day, things are bad...Next day, your old experienced manager is gone, and some new upstart is there to take his place. If you don't expect much, you'll never be disappointed. I'm never surprised. Just do your job, and let the rest take care of itself. Sooner or later, it eventually does...

One thing I've had to get very used to is how the absolute WORST, nastiest and vilest managers are the very ones you can expect to stick around for ever...They are like the turds that won't flush. We've all seen this. Like the above poster wrote, just do your job, keep your nose clean and don't take the crap home with you~

I used to have a crop of jackass managers some years ago. They would pick on me and try to fire me for anything and everything. What did I do to deserve it? Nothing of course. Now the managers I work with are pretty decent and easy to talk to.

Just hang in there and you will luck out like I did.

My managers are relatively nice but I really don't like being told what to do. i already know what needs to be done. I have management/supervisor issues, and because I know this I tend to stay away from them, whenever possible, and just do my job.

I have this problem where, you know, I'm an adult and don't need someone watching over me 24/7 to make sure that i clean my toys up after i'm finished playing with them.

Turnover isn't a management problem. Its a retail problem. Its a socio-economical issue. Everyone growing up was taught that they could be anything they wanted to be and they would be wealthy doing it. Many people feel they are above a minimum wage job that asks them to do anything they might consider unpleasant.

The famous line I have heard 30+ times in grocery is "I don't get paid enough for this ****!"

Someone needs to let me know where you can make high dollar for uneducated untrained labor. I happen to know many qualified applicants.
