The background music in the stores is so bad. Worst I hear in any chain  store.  There is a song sung by a female, another by a male that is like fingersnails on a blackboard. Screeching, crying, monotone, then high falsetto "singing". " Love will find you "  or some such horrible song. These songs play at least 4 times in an 8 hour shift. Whoever picks this stuff should be fired.

Seriously the music is so damn horrible. I'm very lucky to work at a unique store, FredMeyer #135. we get a good mix of decent 80s tunes. Hell ive even heard a few David Bowie songs. But even then it's the same mix, I've heard rock the casbah twice in a day. Sharif didn't like it either time haha

I believe your store can change the music. I ran across the forum that can be used on the Marketing heading for your divisions web page.  The way the music is set up is that you pick a genre of music, oldies, rock, country, etc and can put in a percentage of each hour of each day you would like that music played. So if your management team was on the ball they could possibly be a store DJ. Unfortunatly they are clueless and it plays a standard preset rotation. The music is run by a private company, so they pick the music selections. We do get some seriously bad music such as Little Yellow Poke A Dot Bikini, boy they goes over well with the senior crowd, as well as the equally bad Muscrat Love. I was thinking about faxing the company a new selection under the radar, but it needs a store manager signature, and I was not going to try that.

The worst songs are : Umbrella ella ella ella, the awful remake of U2's One, and the remake of "I want to know what Love is"

I think there commercials are the worst. They just stick in your head. The Pizza one was the worst " You can buy one or ten you will still be algible for the express lane" good point angilo. its pizza reia perfect. Now I have to deal with the Northern Cherry one. But there music is bad to it's like re-living a nightmear everyday you work.

It's Anna Nalick's "In the rough", and whoever plays her stuff (and all the soundalike stuff) should be fired...There used to be some variety long ago, but the monotony of some of this stuff is tedious...They do play a lot of Dave Matthews, that Mary J. Blige "One" cover, Wynonna's version of "I want to know what love is"....OY!!! It's annoying! Sometimes, you just wanna spend time cleaning out a cooler just so the fan can drown out the "noise"...
