I'm thinking about pursuing a career with Kroger as a Co manager. I'm trying to find out the cost for health benefits for non union management, as well as the paid time off schedule ( how much time after how many years, any floating holidays, etc.)
Also, are there any stock options / employee purchase plan, and how is it?
And finally, how attainable and frequent are bonus payouts?
Looking forward to some feedback, and yes I already know about the painful hours, I'm not new to retail, lol.
The cost of health benefits.. What benefits? You have to buy your own health insurance as a manager. So call up blue cross or someone like that. :) Whoever you use for health insurance, make sure you get extra coverage for your lips and nose specifically, on account of how much ass kissing and brown nosing co managers have to do. Maybe invest ina pair of knee pads too. Co manager is one of the worst jobs in the company, from what I have observed. And Co managers starting pay makes little more than a full time topped out employee, on account of how many hours you get required to work.
It really comes down to what you're looking for in a long-term career.
I wasn't aware of management having to buy their own insurance---THAT sucks---, and in addition to all the extra hours you will be expected to put in (especially as a newbie), it will be a grinding road. But this experience is something you can take with you and build on, that, long-term, offers some great rewards.
Be the change you want to see, right? I've got plenty of experience in retail management, and a strong grip on the kind of leader I am, no brainwashing necessary or welcome. Lol, but it still leaves the original questions relatively unanswered...
And by the way, I know for a fact insurance is not funded by the employee 100%, they would never even be able to give one manager with that kind of compensation package...
Unless you want to eat , live, breath Kroger for the rest of your life, please don't go there. And you only get 2 weeks vacation until you've been there for 5 years and you have to pick them at the beginning of the year when you don't even know what's going to happen.
If you value your sanity..... and your marriage... don't do it.
and p.s. you don't get sick days, personal days, floating holidays.. you get told to work six days a week.. cus you are salary.. and if you dare call in sick.. heaven help you. you get NO days off.. ever................................... except your two weeks of vacation, the rest of the year they can work you as many days and hours as they want. Welcome to being a salaried slave.
