Texting on the work, chatting, asking me to do their job. That is all I am surrounded with. And the man. is hiding to see if I do my job. I am still new, but those older one certified bagger, who have 15-16 years old tell me what to do and do almost nothing. they don't really want to work, Grrr.
the kids you can ignore them and laugh as they take the heat. The older guys you can't so much. hell I've only been at kroger for a year and I am able to boss the kids around like it's nothing special. What's weird is they actually listen.

kroger likes kids. they come cheap, and are easy to get rid of.
Right. That's why management defers to them so much. Plus, what are you gonna threaten a kid with? "You're FIRED!" Them: "COOOOL!! I dint wanna be heere NO muthafukin way....I'm goin home to play World of Warcraft."
That lax attitude from management tends to shift a bit when the subject at hand is age 25 or older, tho~~
My store likes to schedule nearly all 15-17 year olds on the register in the evening. It makes since because they have school during the day, but putting them on a register is stupid.
The evening is when we have most of our beer and wine sales and they always have to call for someone to ring them up, which can be a hassle when it's busy.
cashiers at my store have to be 18 so we dont have to call other people to ring. but yea i agree sometimes working with teens who do nothing but complain about their job after being there only 2 weeks can get old. most of them complain because their parents or someone made them get a job, and the rest of us have to deal with their annoyance with their parents.
i was told by a fellow cashiering employee ( a younger kid) that a cart boy was caught sleeping in the front bagger/cart closet. i asked if he lost his job.... of course not~
