most contracts, you loose it in 6 months.

 Military is a whole other story. You shouldn't lose anything if you're called to serve. It's like you're just put on pause.

If you're in the Reserves or the National Guard or if they ever bring back the Draft and you get called up, by law they have to reinstate you with no loss in seniority and at the current pay rate.
