Background check?

I recently moved to Arkansas and put in an application for a job at my local kroger. I got a call the day after i submited my application and went for my interview. Something that came up after i submitted the drug test was what year i graduated high school. The only problem is i did not finish high school, but for fear of not getting hired i had written that i did in fact complete high school.

Is the background check going to go over my education history? Did i just shoot myself in the foot by doing this, because i really need a second job. I'm only applying for courtesy clerk.

I seriously doubt it.  They're mainly interested in whether you have a criminal record or have any outstanding warrants etc.

I've seen people sneak onto jobs claiming a bogus college degree-----and it was NEVER CHECKED.

Generally, the only time education is important enough to check is if the job requires some kind of professional license.

background checks cost money, so unless it's important to what you'll be doing, they won,t check

I work at an Arkansas Kroger.  Other than the drug test and/or criminal background checks, Kroger only really cares if you are a warm body that will show up on time; that you can read reasonably well enough to follow the instructions on all the key refailing charts, signs and tags; and that you are naive enough to believe that management (store level and corporate) know what they're doing.  Pass these tests and you too could become a manager! Oh, and in case you've re-located to Arkansas from somewhere not in the surrounding states, you might want to take a look at the DVD "Paradise Lost: The Robin Hood Hills Murders". This will give you a good idea of the type of customers you can expect to interact with.  Good Luck!!
