Of this company not taking the time to properly train people. When I've told upper management about this, they say they just can't afford to properly train them the way they need to. AFFORD? They spend thousands of dollars for stupid programs to insert into the U/Scan Robots, and thousands of dollars for stupid "Queing" program. And "they" say they can't afford it??!! It's sad to see a new hire placed with someone else that doesn't know s**t about what they're doing and not even watching what the new hire is doing.

Plus, there are so many people that just stand around and talk. I've timed'em. Anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Not doin' a freakin' thing. Just yappin. And the managers don't do anything about it.

In the 60s and 70s, this company was a great place to work for.

Now.....

It's a slow sinking Titanic....

I think the company had bit off more than it could chew with these programs, and now cannot afford some of the most important things (such as training). In the early 90's we didn't have Queuing, we didn't have Key Retailing, or even the Kroger Plus Card, but they did seem to be a little more personal with their customers and gave the employees the tools that they needed to make it a pleasant shopping experience for the customer. The focus used to be on the customer.  Now the real focus seems to be on technology and meeting preset guidelines, all with the pretense of being on the customer.

It's more about the process and not about customers and sales

yep, you guys nailed it.

kroger has forgotten how it gotten where it was, and is doomed, because it refuses to admit it's doing it wrong now.

only reason it hasn't went under all ready, is same as the titianic, so damn big.

but wait, it'll split apart, and then, glug, glug, glug

We have about 200 employees in the store and now hrs are being cut. No overtime even if work is not done and full time is almost impossible to acheive for they cut your hrs the week before you are able. what is going on? I have been with the company for 10 years and have seen it this bad.

Welcome to corporate America, where the concept of spending one dollar to save five means they think they'll end up losing TEN.

They cannot even send us the proper cleaning supplies. I do not order I make a list and give it to my supervisor. I have ordered large clear trash bags last two weeks and have not seen them. I have about 4 boxes of small trash bags because awhile back they send the small ones instead of the big ones. I know what was ordered I had a manager to pull the invoice up and large was ordered. Also there is a few other things I cannot seem to get. And there cleaning products the spic and span is useless also. And the blue all purpose. I see Kroger sinking also spending so much on technology.

After my first day i never received help on how to do my job. They'd rather scold you for doing something wrong or slowly, but not how to do it properly. The poor teenage courtesy clerks just show up on the first day and they have to figure out everything by either guessing or hoping a nice employee has the time to help. They don't even set up new hire emplyee numbers or put them in kronos half the time. After about a week of signing up they'll get off their asses and key you in.
