Well, you're kind of in a bind on this one. Unless your contract states it, there's no such thing as mandatory over time.....On the other hand, if you leave your management in a jam too many times, you might find your hours slashed to pieces.

My pet peeve is I work 8 hours and someone who works only 5 or 6 hours will come in after I do, leave before I do, and not finish their work.  So I'm the one who has to take up the slack.

Alot of my 5-6 hour shifts end up 8 hours. Especially now around the holidays they've been putting us part timers at the store to much more work. It's quite nice actually.

Don't. Unless you like the money and no-one gives you crap about OT simply Don't. If management wants to try to guilt or blame you for things not getting done when your finishing other peoples work, you need to direct them to Who is responsible for leaving said work.

That being said it is Nov. the biggest sales month of the year, before just calling everyone lazy consider that loads are probably heavier then normal. But yeah.. some people are just ****ing lazy.

I work third shift grocery and due to the upcoming holidays its been a pain. I get so sick of hearing about cut hrs and no overtime yet we have less help and loads more product to stock yet management wants perfect conditioning(every single can you stock must be facing), all backstock ran/counted, all stock put up plus ad items fully replinished in 6-7hrs time. Frickin crazy!!!

But im sure i will hear something soon since i have been staying over or just have my days cut, who knows. That del monte canned vegetable sale has been hell to keep up with, I can't wait till the holidays are over with.
