You know as much as anyone else. We've been waiting for more than 2 years for a new contract. Kroger will have us on the same contract for the next decade unless someone makes this an issue in the media.
Sounds like a job for the union. But in all honesty, doesn't it seem like the union likes the status quo as well hmmmmm?
If you are talking about local 700 decatur Illinois. Last I heard was the contract was extended by 30 days of course that was when the contract expire back in August. Haven't heard anything since. And when you ask the Union Reps. they never know anything...
No this is for local 536 in Peoria IL. Our contract expired on Sept 30, 2009. Has anyone had to wait this long for a contract resolution?
As things are, all new hires are hired in at 8.25 and stay that way for almost 5 years before their first raise. No personal insurance for 18 months and no family insurance for 5 years. yes five years for my kid.
I know that costs of living are different across the country, but know that in our town wal-mart starts you out making $9 an hour and you are insured in 90 days of employment. The Hy-Vee that just moved in pays about the same.
Kroger needs to fix this. All of our new hires are losers who failed out of other retail stores. Do they expect any measure of quality from people who have no hope of doing better for themselves for years.
Kroger is the new Mcjob in IL. I don't know but I bet McDonalds has better pay and benefits, considering that all our competitors already do.
