They don't get away with everything!

I left my employment as a co-manager for very good reason. I'm getting unemployment and have filed a claim with the EEOC.  My other co-manager was fired as was my district manager.  MMmmmm.. nothing to hide? I did an excellent job and was treated like a bus boy.  Just a note to everyone who gets treated like crap for no reason, you DO have options, but it takes work and documentation.

I have nothing against KROGER per se, but what was allowed to happen to me was really a waste of my time and Kroger's money to train me to do my job.  I wasted 3  years of my life busting my @ss, kissing @ss and getting no support or training and was threatened to be fired if I didn't improve, but the funny thing is that every number they wanted improvement on, I DELIVERED.... and even more than that.

Document, document, document. I will win this because I got nothing to lose at this point and it's insane the way they run their business.  Just my two cents.

Sorry to hear about this. But, I certainly understand. In the 80s, I was asked about joining management. After seeing 2 of the best managers I'd ever worked for told to clean out their desks, I swore I'd NEVER become one. You're right. Kissing @ss is certainly one of their many requirements. Both of these men had worked themselves up thru the ranks. From bag boys early on to unit managers. They lost a lot more than 3 years tho. But each went on to BUY their own stores and make a success. I'm sure there will be success for you too after leaving this asinine company. Best of Luck!!

My Wal-Mart store has a Co Manager who came from Kroger as a Co Manager. He was there for over twenty years. He's been with us for three years and couldn't be more delighted...Catch him in the story-telling mood, and he STILL regales us with what bullshiit Kroger was for him. As a Wally Co he's making 70 K/yr before bonuses (which are generally 8--12K/yr); at Kroger, he was making half of that, with TWICE the responsibilities and work.

N.A.W., I again extend my strongest, best intended wishes for your happiness and future success~~~

Thank you for the replies, it really does make a difference.  Everyone at my store still calls me and wishes I was there as their manager so I feel bad for them as well.  Lesson learned: Don't spend your life working for people who don't appreciate it and worse than that, make it a nightmare to try to do your job and treat employees well.  The day I drove in to turn in my resignation I almost threw up in the car it was so stressful, I ended up emailing it just to avoid the stress.  I feel wonderful now and would rather be a greeter at Walmart than participate in that Nazi torture ever again.

I'm glad I didn't spend 20 years there like some people, whewww.

yawnWOW This is the 1st time I ever heard someone getting unemployement from Kroger.I wonder is it because you were in management?

I wish you the best! I understand how they expect so much and so little in return.

Would you mind sharing what you made a year and your store manager?

You know what, when I quit management, I took a pay cut (base pay, at least) just to get the hell out of there. I was desperate.

Now, almost 3 months later, I've lost weight (12 pounds and dropping), my blood pressure has come down, and my wife says I act like I'm human again. When people say something abot me taking a pay cut to leave Kroger, I always tell them the same thing - "Money isn't everything."

I'm glad you got out, and I'm even happier that you feel better. Welcome back to the real world!

management drone is absolutely correct! I swear to God, leaving Kroger was the best decision I ever made. If you want your JOB to be your LIFE.............. than you're going to miss most of your life. I believe in working hard, being honest, giving my all, going above and beyond on my job but I have to be able to GO HOME!! With Kroger, all you really do is eat, sleep, and come back to work. That's not a life for anyone and I sure would hate to be married to a Kroger manager.. LOL. Micro-managing at it's best! Almost like our government. Let's create so many promotions, programs, idea, key retailing, reporting, charting, blah blah blah than noone could ever keep up with what is expected or wanted, we can tell them all they're doing it wrong.... so we run run run likes rats on a wheel thinking someday we'll figure out what it is they want........................... but it WON'T HAPPEN... BECAUSE there is no leadership, no clear goal. oh wait,, there is the the GOAL of the week............ which once you accomplish it will quickly change to a totally different goal which makes you dismantle everything you just did to comply........ and it goes on and on. That's not emotionally healthy for anyone.

Almost like a cult.............................. so I'm glad I got out in time before I was totally brainwashed into believing that I just "didn't understand the program"................. cus folks.. there is NO program............ !!!! Get out while you can.
I'm very happy I did, no matter how scary it was to find a new way to make a living, at least I'm LIVING. (SMILE)
