LOST VACATION TIME!!

I recently transferred from CA to TX, and guess what!?! >As of right now, I pretty much lost my vaca time. I had 68 hours ( Yes over a week of vaca time!) and in the transfer process.. hmm.. it somehow got lost. HOW COOL IS THAT!? When I call Ralph's HR, they can see my hours just floating there, but when I talk to Kroger HR they magically disappear... I'm thinking this has something to do with my manager in CA not transferring my file over to Kroger. I had a fallout with a few people there a month or so before I transferred. Anyone think that since that POS did not transfer my file, this is what could have happened to my vaca time? ****in Kroger!!! Oh yeah FYI, nor did I get it payed out!!!!!!!

Stuff like this usually happens in division to division transfers. Did you do your research into what would happen with a transfer? You should have, that way you could have taken that time or had it paid out. Depending on how much of a dick HR wants to be, they may or may not still pay that out.

if you got vaca time (even floating in transfer limbo) you will get it paid or have the chance to take it.  stay calm and on it. don't hate your employer over something so simple and fixable as this.  life is too short

Okay first off, I had no reason to take that time off, I would rather save up hours for a decent vaca like a cruise, rather than take it off to sit on my ass at home. Second, Ralphs SHOULD HAVE paid that out before my transfer, don't try to turn it around on me, this is Kroger's fault, not mine. K thanks!

It's been three months and I still have seen nothing, how can I not be mad at the fact Kroger has lost my 8 days of vaca time that I busted my ass so hard for over three years...

No one here cares about your vacation except you here. You needed to look out for yourself. You didn't and you lost your vacation time. I find it funny actually. biggrin

i just dont get how anyone can "LOSE" vacation time. its shouldn't be lost just temporarily misplaced right?? unless somehow the vacation year ended and reset for 2012. but ours doesnt end till end of january.....

so go find your damn hours! i feel bad that your currently shorted these hours but they gotta be floating around somewhere! just cauz you transferred doesnt mean you lost your hard work in time off. go find out where the hell they are. write a grievance. yell. scream. fight. protest. inquire. damn it!

keep us posted.....

You must be young, right? You have to realize that in any large corporation, you have to fight sometimes to get things done. I'm not saying it's right or moral, or anything like that, I'm just telling you like it is. Like I've said before, don't hate the player, hate the game. Hell, i had to fight with Corporate for about 3 months to get my raise I was due for and I was in management, who you guys think have it so easy. We don't, corporate f*cks us over just like you, sometimes worse. Either way, in any situation dealing with the company like transfers, HR stuff etc, you guys have to know your contracts, know your rights, and research the hell out of things before you do them. If you had done that, I might comiserate with you on getting screwed over. Sounds like you just dove in and expected everything to be all right, and got pissed when things didn't go your way. If that's the case, then I don't and won't have any sympathy for you because you are part of the problem.

Always when dealing with a corporation like Kroger, you HAVE to fight for things but you also have to know your rights up front and do the research. Don't ever expect the company to do things for you or in your best interest. They're just a machine that cranks along and they don't give a f*ck about you or your interests, so you have to be the one to take up that fight. If you don't, then they'll just roll over you at every chance they get and the only person who will be at fault is you, because you could have prevented it.

And to actually be on point: you say that you wouldn't have wanted to have taken that time before you transferred. That may have been the only option you had. I've dealt with two div-to-div transfers before I left, one coming into and one leaving our division. The one leaving the division lost vacation time and Corporate said they were SOL, because the division they went to had a different contract and they couldn't do anything about it. The one entereing had HR pay it out for them, but lost her seniority when she came to our div. Kudos to the one div for actually not having their heads up their asses, but either way, you are sure to be screwed one way or another in a div-to-div transfer.

Well see I did do research on it, and technically it should have been paid out before the transfer. I didn't really worry about it when I didn't get it right away, I figured it could be a month.... Well when the time came and I never got it, I called Ralphs HR and she claims 'I didn't know if it was supposed to be paid out or not!' Some BS excuse, and I have been fighting for this, but the funny thing is they keep sending me in circles. They want to avoid giving me my hours and paying it out

Mind you I will keep fighting for that until I get it paid out, get the hours back, or get a final 'NO' from corporate.

I can guarantee this has something to do with my store manager at Ralphs. Like I had posted before, I had a pretty bad fallout with management a month or two before I transferred, and HE did not transfer my file to my new location, even though he said he would, my new store never received it. If you want to try and take Kroger/management side on this one, by all means go ahead, but there are some schisty mo-fo's out there in the 'upper half' of Kroger
