Question about raise and full time.

I have a quick question, two weeks ago I transfered from upfront where I worked for 5 months to the Meat department and also received my status 3 full time status in the same week.  I'm making minnium wage right now from being a bagger, when will I get a raise for workin in the meat department and being full time status?  This is a Kentucky store, if that matters. Thanks!  John

Ahh welcome to the meat department, in my opinion the best place to work in any store. We are kinda off in our own world where the management barely has a clue how to do the job, so they can't really judge too well. As far as getting a raise, check your contract and see what a meat clerk is entitled to. Prob better than minimum, and they have to take whatever experience you have in to account. Just hang in there, hopefully your meat and seafood managers are good folks who will show you the ropes and you might move yourself up to better paying spots!

congratulations of making full time status, i am hearing that this is difficult to do these days. full time meat will definitely garner you a raise and while it may take a while to come through, i think they will back-date your pay to the day you officially started in the meat department (its entirely possible this could vary from contract to contract though). better to speak to someone in your store instead of asking the forum.

i agree that working in the meat dept. is one of the best places to be at kroger, an experienced meat cutter is one of the more marketable positions you can take working in a store.

check with your contract,, and call the union,,, Local 1059 when i am from... the meat is on a seperate contract from every other department.... you are suppose to get a raise when you become fulltime, if it have not gone through it is called retro pay..back pay... and you will get paid for it.. when it comes to moving to another department and becoming full time,, get incontact with your union because managers like to stall for some reason
