The reward? Getting placed on the schedule. Not much or a reward is it?

Yes...won it with back pay and being put back on the schedule. A very long sordid story and not a pretty one. manager in question was stepped down eventually and the one who brought the investigation about is still spinning their wheels at a store quite a distance from where they live.

Have know of some to take up to a year from the insident ( usually termination) until it is settled and back on the job. Depends on how much the comany wants to fight it and believes if can will.

Been told that it can cost several thousands of dollars , from each side, to go to arbitraction. The loser has to pay and the winner gets their money back.

So if the company is willing to spend thousands of dollars to go thru arbitration, then they will draw it out in hopes that you will just quit and give it all up.

It took me six full months, just to be told, "oh, well we decided we CAN't win your case after all""have you found work yet ?furious

I know several people who have won, even over theft, so it really depends on how bad kroger wants you gone, and does the union stand behind you, or throw in the towel.

I had a total looser for a union rep, so i never had a chance. he never even spoke up at meetings, and let management personally insult me, so i was doomed from the get go.

I had been there too long, accumulated too much vacation time. i was expensive.

so kroger stalled  waiting untill I gave up, and when that failed, the union just dropped it.

the union is weak at best, crooked at worst now, compared to what it used to be.

I never heard back from the national branch Of the union about my case being dropped without my consenthmm

I've never had to go to arbitration, but there has been many close calls. Most of the time Kroger will settle, because if it is a solid case they know they will lose it. I'll usually settle for a slightly lesser amount to avoid further delay.

Barada, that meeting at the corporate office regarding... maybe to tell you the reason for your termination, do they let you say anything to defend yourself?  Does anyone leave that first meeting with their job back?
