We got a year meeting, I don't know if you got one guys. The bottom line was we cost too much. I can't believe my 7.25$/h is too much. That is so sad, cause all the floor supervisor and manager are just taking alof of houres doing nothing but talking to each other, sometime 3 at the same time.
They give away too much coupons, if the distributor give 0.25$ they will give 0.50$ off too. We are using too much bags and all...
we could tell them how to save themselves some money, but they wouldn't care to listen...little things like stop making us carry products we continually mark down, for one. we could tell them what our customers ask for, want, and like and stop trying to shove products down their throats that might work for a bigger market area but not our small town. we just had 2 competitors close up and leave for pete's sake...

I know, and those experts sit in offices in some high rise far removed from the real world and the people who shop our store. They wouldn't want to actually rub shoulders with the food stamp crowd and watch them hovering around the mark-down cart looking for bargains they can afford to buy, would they? Same reason we'll never see an episode of Undercover Boss for Kroger...the embarassment of seeing their programs being implemented in the real world setting might actually be humbling ~shudder~

I'm cynical enough that I believe someone WOULD say that, but being that the corporate focus is always on increasing the tracker scores, how would that help? "You guys cost too much. I hate each and every one of you. So say you are happy with your job thanks." What?????
Luckily I've had a few store director types who are the opposite, and have said that they wish they had more control over the store employee pay rates, and would reward people's performance with more money, not less.
That guy should be tarred and feathered that actually had a meeting to tell his employees that they cost too much at minimum wage.
23 years with Kroger and I have never seen or heard of that in the Dallas area as well as the SWKMA.
I have has a few times where some of the Hire ups has asked me if I think I am worth my pay or questioned a hand full of employees work ethics but never a large group or an entire store.
I have been on several contract talks and still never recall that even being siad.
Have to question the integrity of this statement by the OP. either it is made up or something taken way out of contact or proportion.

I know that 20 years ago they had the ability to once a year raise some one up one or two pay levels. But then that was ended when the unions got involved from a large number of employees filing complaints about it not being done fairly or in a favoritism and dicriminatory way.
Just giving an honest opionion on a follow up to any post. It is not just Kroger but you got to look at retail in general.
I also have had a lot of time in with Kroger and the union and have seen both sides of many issues.
Also have seen a lot of dumn ass people and that include employees and managers at store level. When you are around for this many years , or longer, many of those co`s and store managers are some of the same ones you started with or worked to help train over the years.
Grumpy, to be on a "i hate kroger" message board, you sure do side with Kroger alot.
I agree with some of Grumpy's post most times, which is why I signed up to be able to indentify me in some ways. The union is no way perfect, but they have helped me many of times when the company has tried to either take advantage of me or screw me over altogether. I've worked for them for more than 5 years and after all these years they shouldn't be trying to screw around with a person who actually cares about their job. I've filed plenty of grievances in the past few years. If there is a problem and I can't get it resolved on the store level I go to my union representive.
