Our Contract

I was told in our contract it states that there is a 40 hours locked in for people hired before a certain year. I do not fall in this bracket. I'm concerned because the company doesn't want to up it a few years ahead. I was told they could virtually work me 28 hours a week even though i'm full time status. Do you think they would try and pull something like this?

You are looking for the LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING between the Kroger company and the Union local 540.It states this----------------------------------

It is understood that the parties agree that all employees hired on or before September 16th 2001 will be guaranteed forty ( 40 ) hours of work at their new rate(s) for the life of this contract

This has been in our contract before and it changes each contract to guarantee the top 40 percent of the market people 40 hours. He had tried to get it changed to where it would be guaranteed 40 after 10 years but Kroger would not go for it. I can not recall the origin of it but there was something Kroger wanted but our local president would not give it up without a certain guarantee of hours for a group of employees and that was about 40% or the workers.
