Dealing with disrespectful co-workers
Permalink

I'm just curious...but what are some tips you guys have used over the years to deal with disrespectful co-workers and/or managers, or just people in general? I'm looking for any thoughts, ideas, things you've said, things you've had to say, things you've said and regretted, ways you've dealt with specific situations, how those situations ended, etc....First off, though, how would you define "disrespect", since one person's "disrespect" is another person's "joke" or "way of being"? What would you classify it as?

If you're the one who's being dispespected then shut up and quit your bellyaching.  If you're the one who's doing the disrespecting the advice is the same.

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional,
illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous main stream
media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to
pick up a piece of **** by the clean end."

You have two options:
1) Ignore it.
2) Report it.

Pick your poison.

I generally try to ignore it when it is directed towards me. But then if it continues then I aggressively attack it ( thru proper channels) until it ends or the person is removed.
Have that happening in my department with a few co-workers. I am slowly changing it and have them convinced that if it continues I will lock them in a room with a marriage councilor or they kill each other .

Just remember this. As much as a bad comanager can do write-ups and document everything, You can too. When you have a problem with them or their behaviour, Document it as an email and send it to your union rep. Then should you have a problem with them, you can have your rep pull your file with all there poor behaviour and attitude.

At 870 we the have the worst person ever. One must feel extremely sorry for someone who's so unhappy with their self they pick on others! The person is loud , ugly and steals time .The best thing is to document and find atty to loves to sue Kroger. Kroger management needs to correct so the really good, HARD WORKING EMPOLYEES don't all Sue Kroger!!!

Just document everything; times/dates.The trick is, be the first one to the court house, so to speak. Present and state your case. Cover your end, always.
That usually eliminates 99.9 % of these problems

I actually had a manager apologize to me recently for being so blunt. I guess his mind was elsewhere, and took it out on me. Just thought I'd mention it, since that kind of thing doesn't happen very often (especially to me), or no one talks about it, and plus, I'll take what I can get when I can get it...
