I know its evitable for them to come into the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the next 10 - 15 years or quite possibly even sooner. If They do come to the area are you going to leave Kroger for them? I've thought about it myself honestly. I'm on the fence, but I think there must be something better than Kroger. I've been with the company for more than 5 years and its my first job. I feel like I could earn Market Manager and be better paid with them than Kroger. How do you feel? I also want to mention i've been very loyal to Kroger for years, but the way management/upper management treats it workers my loyalty/moral for them has dwindled over the years.

Go where the money is. Don't reserve your loyalty for any one who will never keep theirs for you~

Also consider applying for jobs at Whole Foods, when the urge to leave Kroger gets you. They pay VASTLY better. Your Kroger experience will get you in the door way more than other applicants. Meat managers around here for them usually make over $25/hr. Im always looking for seafood jobs there ; going down to assistant manager would net me a pay RAISE! But they are few and far between ; they keep their employees for a long time. There are plenty of Whole Foods' in the Dallas area, I lived in Plano for a while.

Not saying to quit or not and if the pay is better that what you are getting now. It is not the $$$ per hour that you need to look at but the amount of $$$ in your take home pay. You already have more that 5 years so you are vested in your pension. If you are looking at doing this then just look at these few things first.

Do you or will you have a retirement plan with the other place and what will it cost you out of your own pocket?

How much will it cost you ( out of your check) for your health care? Remember this, the cost of healthcare has gone up by 30 to 40 percent every year and the companies will pass that on to you every year or cut what they can from future wages.

The cost of your benefits is about $6 per hour to kroger. Take whatever you are making and ad $6 to your pay rate and then use that to consider what the true pay comparison will be. Now also consider that they could place you on a salary rate and that would make it even worse that what you are doing now.
