I have worked for Kroger for over 30 years, and I can tell ya, it will NEVER be the company that it's suppose to be. EVER!! Management is so f**king stupid. All they care about are numbers, key retailing, and kissing a** to see how far they can work themselves up the chain.
New to Kroger? Forget it. Find something better. The way the 4 year contracts are now, you don't stand a chance. Why? Cause they don't really want to train you. It cost too much. They'll spend millions of dollars for technology crap that they pretend to understand. Millions of dollars building new stores that are inferior designed, and destined to be upgraded just a few years later... but...they don't care about their customers, you, or even their fellow associates.
In the 60s and 70s, everyone was lining up to be a part of the GREAT company. Now, it's a slow sinking Titanic.
It's only a matter of time before I retire. And I'll tell ya this.
The day I do, I'll tear up that Kroger Plus (loyalty card), and NEVER set foot in one of their stores again. I'll pay more money to go somewhere else.
okay Einstein exactly how's tearing up ur loyalty card gonna hurt them? All it's gonna do is prevent u from gettin sale prices and ur 10% kroger brand discount... seems to me that if u kept ur card and used and abused it too the fullest extent then u'd be gettin the best of em by reducing their profit margin.
I agree with all the other posters- what once was a great company that paid decent and had good benefits to take care of their loyal employees so all concerned could make a respectable living and be proud of where they worked is history. The OX is in the ditch, the cart is inverted, and there's no righting the load. My condolences to all those who have years to go before retirement and have too much invested to jump ship.
Nowadays if someone asks u where u work and how u like it ur ashamed and saddened to tell them Kroger. If there was ever any doubt on the company's agenda then it was exposed when they announced the 70% part time mandate- only the really GREEDY companies would jump on the OBAMA healthcare law to use it as a means to drop healthcare coverage for the majority of their employees- I think if they handle it just right they even get a bonus for doing it! The CEO and his braintrust are on the road to Perdition aka the Highway to Hell- they'll hafta answer for their greediness someday and all the people they've blindly and maliciously hurt while they make record salaraies and bonuses doing it.

the Dude is just upset because he always thought the theory of relativity meant it was okay to marry his sister, then he moved from Kentucky to Ohio and found out inbreeding was against the law there.
