Thinking about transferring to another store
Permalink

I've been thinking about getting transferred to another store. It's smaller than the one I'm at right now. I know the management there and we're on good terms with each other. How would I go about doing this? And would my pay rate and all be the same as it is now? I kinda have a feeling it will be.

1. Is this store you desire to transfer to closer to your home? If so a transfer can not be denied. If the store is not closer to your home, you will have to convince your current manager to let you leave. As long as there is good terms between you and management, they usually do not have a problem with leaving. However they are not obligated to let you go to a store thats is farther away. Perhaps if you were taking a promotion.
2. As long as you are in the same union local I dont see that there would be a difference in payscale. Keep your seniority in mind as well if you were to transfer. Where would you stand on the list at the ""new"" store.
3. To request a transfer write a letter to both stores managers of this request. You will also need to contact your union rep in writing or even an email (i've done this) of your desire to transfer. Write a letter to Human Resources as well. It can be the same letter copied. If it all works out you should be at your new store very soon.

So, if it is within the state you just get a hold of both managers? I'm wondering how to get the ball rolling on it myself since I recently moved and drive thirty miles to work one way when there is a Kroger about four or five miles from me now.

As long as you talk to your store manager, they always let you. You can always usually transfer if the store is closer to your home, you're not getting along with somebody at your current store, or if the store is really small and there isn't enough hours for work. I hope that helps!
