Your scheduling clerk SHOULD be rotating weekends off based on seniority. at your store it doesn't seem they are smart to know how to keep employees happy.

I've been working as a Courtesy Clerk for 2 years as a part-time employee. Ever since I've basically worked every weekend saturday and sunday. I haven't really been able to spend time with my family and friends as a result of this. I recently turned in a request to take weekends off but still be available from 9am to 9pm Monday through Friday, but it was denied (or lost). Are part-time employees even able to get weekends off? Or does it all come down to seniority? What am I missing here?

Thanks for the replies guys ;D I'll try submitting another request tomorrow. Thinking of making an excuse like 'volunteer work on the weekends' haha hope it works. I'm DONE with the sunday/saturday grind! Hopefully I can catch up on some social time with the ones that matter most in my life.

They try to rotate everybody, but most of the department heads don't pay much attention to people. I haven't had a weekend off since March a.k.a. my vacation.
yea there should be a scheduling calendar around. Go to it and write down your name occasionally for a Saturday or a Sunday off. Do it every few weeks.
Every one needs a particular day off every once and awhile. Jot down your name on a Saturday and if you feel the need to, scribble next to your name some silly reason like Son's soccer tournament or Picking up mother from airport.
Make sense? Give it a try!

don't expect every weekend off dude. I've also been working for kroger for 2 years and I get a saturday off very rarely and I have to fight tooth and nail to keep it that way if it's on the schedule. NO ONE wants to work weekends, but you can't lie about something just to get it off like that. Eventually they will check and you'll be in deep **** for it.

i dont think the dude wants EVERY WEEKEND OFF - just an occasional saturday or sunday here and there + once every couple months a full weekend off.
heck its only reasonable for all of us to want and to receive an occasional weekend day off. its also reasonable to ask for a 3 day break. I personally can go on only 32 hours a week and will at times ask for a Fri/Sat/Sun reprieve in order to go to Chicago or wherever.
