Drug/GM Manager job interview
Permalink

I've been working for Kroger for about 4 years now, been a Drug clerk for about 2. I have an excellent Drug Manager, he's taught me a lot and is grooming me for when he steps down within the next year or 2. I know pretty much all day-to-day operations, company objectives, and how to lead a team. The only thing holding me back might be my youth, I'm 21. Is it realistic for someone my age to get a job like that?

My brother is 26.. He started two and a half years ago as a frozen food person. Then, he switched to grocery. Then, he was the assistant grocery manager. Six months later, he transferred to another nearby store as the grocery manager.

This was over a little over a two year period of being employed there.

So yes, it's possible.

Yes, quite possible. If you go above and beyond in your department and you let management know what your doing for the company, then you can go far. The only thing you got to watch out for is the interview. Interviewing for a mangement role and all, I would assume they would ask you how well you can lead a team, and what experience in leadership you have. But if your confident and know what your talking about then none of that should be a problem.

Good Luck to you!

I'm training right now for the qualified assistant manager in produce. I get a raise from my current pay which is $8.55, and when I get certified after the 8-week program, I will be making $12.50. I'm wondering how long it will take it become a department head.

It is very possible!  I am a gm manager now.  I started at 16 became a back up at 20 and a gm manager at 22. I actually had the chance to become the manager sooner but I felt it wasnt the right time for myself.  If you feel that you can do the job, you should definetly strive to become the dept manager!
