I just got locked into full time status because I completed 12 weeks of working 40 hours. When I was hired the HR manager said that my pay rate will increase to $12.80 once I have completed those 12 weeks of 40 hours. I was told that I will qualify for top pay based on my 5 years of previous deli experience. But all of my co-workers are telling me that the HR manager is known for delaying things for months before she eventually adjusts the pay rates, and when she finally does get around to adjusting it the raise is usually less than what she promised. Usually people have to get the union involved if they want to get their pay adjusted. How long should it normally take for a pay raise to be processed? Should it be one week or two weeks before I can expect a pay raise to take effect? Based on what I know about our HR manager, I have a bad feeling that this is going to drag out for a long time and I'm going to have to call in the union reps. How long should I wait before I get my union representative involved?
Well...that's a lot more than anyone else gets paid at my store that isn't a department head. It may take a little while to get your pay raise, but you need to find out for yourself.
One would now wait more that two pay checkes to have is corrected. First is to talk to your store manager and payroll clerk. See what they say. Then check on HR Express. That will give you your classification, pay rate and all other information. If they tell you that you already are getting it and HR express does not have it in then get your union rep involved at that piont. As a general rule it can take one to two pay periods to get something done. Do not wait much longer than that because with everything coming out of Kansas ( as far as payroll) there has been a lot of issues with getting things fixed. Even the HR staffs in your local KMA does not have the ability to fix things like they once was.
