MD1 Program

Hello Everyone,

I have recently offerent the opportunity to interview for the MD1 Program.  It's a 17 week program that prepares associates for stepping into the role of Co-Manager.  I was just wondering if anyone knows much about this program and what it actually encompasses.

Also if there is anyone that could provide me information in regards the the starting salary of a Co-Manager and what the compensation process is like (i.e. annual raises, bonuses, etc.)  I would greatly appreciate it.

If you want a life of stressed, less pay, and being ****ted on don't do it. If you're wanting to get the experience to move on to another company do it.

Yea, my info is maybe two years old, but that's the figure. Btw: 55 in Cali actually converts to less than that in the mid west. Still, I agree with you: As an assistant at Walmart, I started at 45. I'm up to 52 now before bonuses, after just a few years. I'm not pushing Wally over Kroger. If you've got a solid shot at that, I'd strongly urge you to go for it. Put in a coupla years; you can always transfer that experience somewhere else.

Pretty sure you start out around 35Kish. It's good experience though! You do a lot of baby sitting. And someone quote me if I'm wrong, but once you become a Co-Manager there is a rule in your contract where, if you decide to voluntarily quit within a period of time AFTER your training then you are responsible for reimbursing your training.  So like if you found a better paying job at another retail conglomerate, soon after your training then Kroger would collect their dues.

yea - i guess the question is how old are you?  a training program in retail might be great experience to have.  invaluable on your resume.  i concure with the others to decide if it is the right fit for you for the next year or two then go with it!  once in the door you can decide where you wish to go.  look at kroger corporate jobs later down the  road.
