Health Insurance Cards
Permalink

I just became eligible for health/vision/dental on aug 1st and they started deductions the first week.  It's been 3 weeks that I've paid into these benefits and have yet to see one card in the mail.  How long did it take on average?  Who do I need to contact say if they don't come in the next couple weeks.

I think its crappy that I'm paying into something I cant use if I needed it right now.

if you are paying into it then you are eligible for it.  having a card really is just having a card.  what matters is being in the big computer system wherever that might be for this insurance.  just chill and if you want call up the insurance provider to confirm your good to go and then feel free to use it

I'd call the insurance provider (ie hospital) and see if you are in their system. If so you should be able to get the member number and if available, log into their system online, perhaps even print a card. After I was eligible and supposedly covered, it took the hospital another 3 weeks to be notified electronically that I should be added. It probably wouldn't have been if I hadn't followed up to make sure.

For us, we don't get dental cards/insurance for 6 months after being eligible for health insurance.

Well I suppose my best bet is contacting HR and seeing who oversees problems with this.  I'm gonna wait this week out which will make a full month.  I don't believe it takes a full month to send cards out in the mail.
