that new 277 contract is crap. Im voting against it. i hope it doesn't stick because the union could have fought harder for us. 15 cent raises a year for parttimers? That's bullcrap. Plus Im gonna start paying 28 a week for my dinky insurance. I pay right now just 10 a week. So take my 15 cent raise and minus it against the new insurance payment and Im losing ou 12 a week now. screw that

There is a lot more to it than that. How about new hire part timers that will have to wait 2 years for medical rather than 1 year. Making it where holiday pay is only give if part timers and full timers work 40 hours in a holiday week (for part timers, yeah right!). Plus that raise from how I understand it only goes to those who are topped out on their pay rate. So folks like me who havent topped out yet won't see it either way.
And I disagree that they could've fought harder for us. They could've faught for us in the first place! The contract has Kroger Corporate all over it and looked like Local 227 just glanced at it and smiled then instantly said, deal!
If I wasn't forced to pay union dues either way then I'd jump out of the union knowing they aren't even trying. They'll gladly take my money and at times I've been over charged dues and have had to call them out on it... now thats crooked.
