Kroger Comes First

Just for laughs I remember one time that myself and a co-worker had requested the same day off. We were both called in to the office and explained to that one of us would have to work that day because of the needs of the business. Well I  said that I would be glad to go ahead and work that day so my co-worker could go to his family reunion. The manager reminded us that a request was just that, a request. Then he starts on this rant about how " Kroger Comes First." Kroger should always be you number one priority. It comes before your family, friends, and just about anything you hold dear to your heart. When I spoke up and said, " Are You Serious " He said Yes. Anyone that tells you different is just pissing in the wind buddy, their just pissing in the wind. Unreal that there are people in this world that think this way. Funny how we remember stupid sh1t like this.

You are neither salaried nor an on-call employee. He is. There's such a thing as asking too much of your wage slaves.

Its interesting to find out that this happens everywhere, not just at my store.  Do they like, pre-screen these managers to see how much they can **** with people?

The Oz Principal is very flawed, because its suggesting that theres no natural born leaders in peons. I for example always took initiative right from the get go. They took notice immediately and saw that I wasn't no ordinary peon just collecting a paycheck. They don't have to tell me what to do for I already know what to do. I'm critical at looking at the counter and seeing what needs to be filled up. Time is often a factor for me, I know what needs to be done however I get get delayed from time to time with customers. I'll prioritize my task to get the job done. I don't believe that Kroger can truly hold someone personally accountable. If you don't have the hours to full staff your department then all accountability goes out the door.

Basically we're a scarecrow without a brain and must be told what to do because if we didn't we would be unproductive.

In my district, not sure about the whole division, everyone from floor supervisors up through management had to go to 8 hour oz principle classes. Great concept of personal accountability. Hated what the company was trying to use it for with us.

I love that Kroger can invest money in the (wizard) of Oz principle.  I mean really?  Those three clowns are getting fat paychecks for dreaming up the wizard of oz principle.  I bet Kroger dropped some good coin on the books materials and labor of the OZ principle.  But not in hours or healthcare.

Oh and to the original poster,

WORK TO LIVE NOT LIVE TO WORK

especially for kroger
