I feel bad that I don't know this, but I am certain I can find out here. With Right to work in Indiana now,(after contract passes for us @ Kroger) members and future Kroger employees can opt out or refuse to join the UFCW 700. Even if they do this, they are still technically "members" because they are part of the bargaining group. So basically they get all the privileges and rights as dues paying members would. As far as our pensions go, this money comes from our weekly dues deductions right? If not where does this money come from?
Weekly dues help in a variety of ways for the unions to function. The main thing is you'll be labeled a "scab", because your reaping the benefits of what the union has fought for to help you. Then again that money also goes toward their salaries, so its questionable if they're not being that helpful in a timely manner.

My Views and Opinions do not reflect that of the Kroger company. I'm an indivdual expressing my 1st amendment right.
The money DOES NOT come from your dues for YOUR PENSION. It is negotiated , in your contract, and goes towards every employee that is in your contract and covered area regaurdless. The money for your pention is spelled out in your contract as to what proger has to pay in per employee. In a right to work state , here is the few diferances you have by not being in the union.
You do not have any say or voting right on your contract or anything conducted between the union and kroger.
You still have representation but the union has the right to take care or all union members and their issues first, before non union employees.
You also help in weekening the union by brining the membership down and giving Kroger more power in negotiations and items that would benifit them.
But the best part of a right to work state is this, in my opionion, The union has to do a good job and service the members better if they are going to remain strong with good membership.
