"yeah i work night stock and we (stock crew) get most the good markdowns because our kroger is not open 24 hours and guy does most our markdowns in the backroom has three huge floats full of crates he has marked down items in not going to lie in months where cash was short and i could not afford dog food for my 3 dogs i would cut a bag with my box cutter and bring it too the back for the guy who does the markdowns to place tape over the whole and a $15-20 bag of dog food so can afford it "
That's really dishonest on your part. Do you not feel guilty for doing it on purpose? I don't over order on purpose or anything to that degree. If there is some stuff that needs to be marked down i'll mark it down just a bit above cost depending upon the date. The closer it is to being out of date is the lower the price it will go down and it can go down as far as 1/3 of the cost to the company.
"The second it's placed on the shelf it's free game. You can put it down and pick it back up but you can't whored it in the backroom like a hawk."
I've put some in the back in the past, but only if there is enough to put out on the shelf. Everybody should get the catch to get a good markdown.

My Views and Opinions do not reflect that of the Kroger company. I'm an indivdual expressing my 1st amendment right.
Had a customer jump down my throat for purchasing markdowns. She seemed to think that employee's should not be allowed to buy markdowns. She went so far as to have a manager come to the check out and wanted him to force me to give her the chicken and beef that was in my cart. How stupid. She really got pissed when management told her that it was first come, first serve. Just another old tight wad that wanted something for nothing, and I won this round.

First come first serve is right. If there's a bakery markdown I see and I want it, I'll put it in the cooler until it's time for me to leave. I've been told its ok to do that as long as I buy it that night.
That lady was really nasty! I'm glad the manager stood up for you. Some of them seem to think that because they are shopping in the store that they have more rights than we do. But when we are off the clock, we are customers too.
I'm supprised, management will normally side with the customer, no matter how wrong they are, and we always get treated like a slave, er i mean assosioate, on or off the clock
Once you're off the clock you're just as much a customer as she is.
Amen to that! They don't like it...Too bad!!! You could just as easily go to another Kroger off the clock, and you'd be just a customer to them, and buy all the markdowns there you like!!! But, I always say...Shop where you work!
